So my ex-GF's son got into watching Top Gear back in 2013-14......Recently, I got to wondering if TG had ever mentioned the Fiero......Did a search for "Top Gear Fiero" and saw a vid....started watching it and can't hear anything even at top volume.....but the 3 guys look like idiots right off; They are "Reviewing" a 1960s Olds Cutlass, a 1990s Buick Roadmaster wagon and a 1986 Fiero SE.....They drive them around for a while making "Witty remarks" which I could not hear....Then they do a 0-60, and then a test of parking brake on 20% slope.....The idiot parks the Fiero, then he jumps out of the Fiero and it rolls down and hits the Cutlass......Well defined stupidity and waste.
Then they put cups of soda all around the interior and try to drive a slalom course.....finally, they take each car and fill the interior with water and try to drive them.....
I would think it would be more entertaining to fill the idiots with water and see if they can crawl away.......
There was no sign of Jeremy Clarkson or his British compatriots....But it did have a "Top Gear" logo lead in.......
That was the American version-didn't last long. I saw that episode and maybe one or two others before I put it on my do not watch list. The English one did mention the Fiero and called it a poor man's MR2. Marc
I didn't mind watching the episodes I did watch. Basically the American's version had 3 guys, who had a limited budget to chose a vehicle based on taste that meet certain requirements and then put them through trials that none were really made for and see which one would last to be some type of winner.
If you get past the fact that this show isn't really an in depth vehicle comparison and more of a demolition derby then it can be fun to watch.
The show was trash, nothing car related other than destroying one and trying to be funny at the same time. They failed. The British Top Gear did wreck their share of cars but they also had real content on the show.
Ok, I blinked across this show with the Fiero and actually laughed. I feel a little guilty about that, but it was the hill scene where the guy gets out of the rolling Fiero and it steers itself into the Olds. Too bad it damaged the Olds, but who hasn't wanted to get out of a car and let it go. Maybe just me.
