Hey guys- I'm going to set up a drive for the 13th of January, we can do a simple ride through Red Rock Canyon. We can have lunch at Bonnie Springs Ranch Restaurant, the link to it is below which will have the menu. Here's the Route:
We'll set off at 11:30 am from the Las Vegas Fiero Club. Feel free to show up a little early.
The starting address is 5340 Alto Ave Las Vegas, NV 89156
I might want to go......But I want to also drive by the location of the PepCon explosion.....That was a rocket fuel plant that exploded in 1988......They had been storing the solid fuel for the Shuttle boosters (After the Challenger explosion stopped flights) and a fire started......Watch the video of it....I had to watch it every year during my Haz Mat refresher training......The area is completely built up now (And no, there is not a rocket fuel plant there now!)
Hey...I need to add that my right rear brake caliper just started leaking.....I know there is a Fiero salvage yard in LV......Could I possibly get a rebuild-able caliper from there? Who should I contact?
If you have an 88, I just went through the same thing. If you cannot find one to rebuild, then try Napa. They were able to find me one from the east coast. They also said there were a couple located in Philadelphia and this was just about 2 months ago. It was $80 plus $40 for deposit.

Contact is Me. What year do you need? PM me as not to clutter this thread.
I tried looking for the site of the PepCon explosion on Google Maps, watched a couple of documentaries to see if I could notice some landmarks but came up short. There was a holding pond and some train tracks in the general area, but I couldn't find the pond; I bet they filled it in.
I called the Restaurant at Bonnie Springs and they're going to need a reservation; just so that they can provide enough tablespace for our group. So, by January 10th, please let me know if you'd like to be in on this and with how many attending.
To add: I posted this on the Las Vegas Fiero Club Facebook page. To avoid confusion, use either here OR that page to let me know about reservations, I get easily confused
Hey! That's my line..."Easily confused".....I'm an ex-gov-ment workre....If I was any dumberer, I would have been qualified to be a politician.....
I found the (Basic) address for the Pepcon Explosion...."Corporate park Drive" in Henderson circles the site...which is completely built up now.....So really "Nothing to see....Just move along..."
I don't know if I'll be ready for the drive- I was able to finally pick up a caliper, but I am "In process" rebuilding it...then have to install, bleed and test.....
We are coming into town Friday. Do we have a meting place for Friday afternoon/ night Any recommendations for a hotel? What are we doing Saturday night and Sunday morning
cvxjet - any luck with your caliper? I tried rebuilding a rear last year for an 88; did more damage than good because I didn't have the right shop equipment. Fortunately, I found one at AutoZone and seems to be holding up.
Brenda0 and boysatt - we'd love to have you
FastRed - Unfortunately, I have to work Friday night; I won't be able to do anything. Some hotels near the Fiero Club are the Cannery Casino on I-15 and Craig, the Sunrise Inn on I-15 and Cheyenne. There's a La Quinta on Nellis and Craig as well. The Aviation Inn looks to be the cheapest near Nellis AFB.
We've got about 10 or so people coming along, should be a good time!!!
Last call for making reservations to Bonnie Springs Restaurant for Saturday!! I'll be calling them Wednesday, 10 January at 1pm. Here's who I have confirmed so far
sardonyx247 fast red +1 mr corean +1 Brenda0 boysatt darbysan +1 Fierobsessed (+3?) me +3
Let me know if your name if you'd like to come and your name isn't on this list before 1pm January 10th. Thanks!!!
I'm guessing the +3s won't all be in the Fieros...
2 of mine will meet us there. I think Matt's family will meet us there as well.
Here's the final list that I've reserved for, if my math is right, that's 20 people!!!!

I made the reservation for the above, however, if you find yourself wanting to go but didn't reserve in time, call Bonnie Springs at 702-875-4191, ask to be transferred to the Restaurant, and add your name to the reservation of the Las Vegas Fiero Club.
Google Maps puts the trip from the Club to the restaurant at about 1 hour and 8 minutes so we'll have to leave the east side of town no later than 11:40. We can also stop at the Red Rock overlook if we have time to burn. The weather is looking good for the weekend, should be fun!!
Hello everybody...Brenda here. I think my husband is going to join us so that's another person makes 21 I think. Just to let you know also I'm a tour guide here in Vegas and one of my doors is Red Rock Canyon so if you'd like me to tour you whIle we are there it's my pleasure to do. I know where the visible Oasis spring is and the Indian handprints. I also know all the stories. Let me know. See you soon
Not quite late night surgery, but I am changing an idler pulley that is making a bit of noise and probably going to try a couple of code improvements. Other than that it’s running great!
I've got hood, headlights, radiator, AC condenser, front bumper, rear wheels, brakes, and struts off. Good thing we're not doing cars and coffee at the crack of dawn this time, lol.
