Interesting

I was looking at inflation adjusted dollars and my Formula that cost $13,000 in 1987 works out to $30,000 2017 dollars

It shouldn't matter much what the price of a Fiero would be in 2017 dollars because they are no longer sold and use old technology. They also don't drive like a new car. As for used prices they are all over the place but when pricing a Fiero things like new paint, upholstery, engine work and wheels should be considered.

Dennis I think you missed the point.

Point is if you paid $13,000 for a Fiero back in the day that's like paying $30,000 today.

Yes, we all know that the cheapest grocery getter today outperforms the sports cars of the 80s. That's not the point. A $100 HDTV today outperforms the $200 tube TV from the 80s so electronics got better AND cheaper. Cars just got better, but cost about the same in inflation adjusted money.

Here is the deal.

I paid $12,000 for my Fiero in 1985 when the average price of a car was $12,000.

Today I believe the average price of a car today is about $35.000 .

Sounds about right based on inflation.

Too bad our pay is not on the same scale.
