The Rock County Sheriff's Office said in a news release that law enforcement received a call at 5:08 p.m. of a dark colored Pontiac Fiero swerving in and out of the ditch and causing other cars to swerve out of the way west of Janesville. A witness gave police the license plate number and followed the car, officials said.
Minutes later, a deputy spotted the car stopped for no reason on North Pearl Street near Mercy Hospital in Janesville. Another car drove around the Fiero before stopping at a stop sign at Franklin Street. The Fiero then sped forward and hit the other vehicle, officials said.
The Fiero's driver, Paul Botsford, 60, told the deputy that he rear-ended the other car because it cut him off, the release said.
Botsford reportedly failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for alleged OWi, as well as criminal recklessness, criminal damage to property and other traffic violations, the release said.
No one was injured in the incident.
