I was having a hard time trying to find a decent shift cable for my 86. My Fiero is not exactly stock but I think this would work even better on a stock application. Summit, Cable TCI-850700 $55.97, 3/16 32 rod ends from the hardware store are a few bucks each. The stock gates didn't really match up with my trans so I popped it apart and ground down stock gates. I marked where each gear stopped and just cut a new gate. Works great. Here's pics.

Interesting.

What Trans?
Shifter work w/ most/all 4Txx(E or not) w/o notching new gates if the trans end has correct length level. (Many threads say so.) Different cables shouldn't matter.

Why did you make most or all new gates full lock same as parking?

So people are on same page...
OE gates on many vehicles not just Fiero w/ 3 speeds:
Full locking gate only for Parking.
Rest is design so you can bump the shifter to Neutral and (Over)Drive. Push the button to move to R and Low gear(s) from N or D/OD

My bet would be sand blasting, and silver paint to follow.

Glass bead. No paint yet. Cover shipping and I'll blast yours too if you want.
