Wish I could help you more, but there are plenty of sellers on ebay and the like that sell single LED replacement bulbs of all types. Or do a search here on PFF under LED bulbs.

Replace it with one that fits. any brand new bulb is going to be brighter than a 30 year old bulb that's burned out.

If you don't want to pay the money for an LED, then pay the $3 for the incandescent stock replacement. If you don't want incandescent, then pay the money for LED. Not a hard problem.

889 bulb (25w 540 lumins)? Is bright and hot. Many sells this for low beam HL and fog/driving lights. Dim lamps mean old bulb, wiring problems or both.

MANY sells LED ones to replace 50w bulb and are very bright...
LED here should Not be brighter the 889 bulb because too bright can blind other drivers at night.
Too bright can be stopped by cops same as dim/dead bulbs

color temp above ~4500°K often makes red look pink to purple can get attention by cops too.

Just get the regular bulb.

I have the LED one from TLG/Black Top Racing but although its nice and bright, its pink. Bright, but pink. Pale pink. It relies on the red lens of the housing to give it a red color, but its just not happening. I keep forgetting about it but I'm going to switch it back to a regular bulb.

I think I have some red led boards (with leds) left over after I did mine, 2 of these boards (6-8 leds) fit perfectly inside the housing. I attached them to a 1/8 piece of plexiglass with the red leds and lense it is a bright red.
If i do, i will let u know if interested

Yes, LEDs are odd. The red filter doesn't help much, so you need a bulb that is the correct color. Blacktop racing also sells an LED array. It looks red to me. It's the Level 3 option. Not cheap, but it comes with a new housing.

One of the problems with the incandescent 3rd brake light is that it gets too hot, if on for a long time. As a result, the housing melts and warps.
