I'm replacing both shift cables on my 88, but I feel like there is a lot of play in the shifter (video taken before the cables were replaced).
Does this shifter seem too loose to you?
I have a rebuild kit but just curious as to what others think

Also, what is this bracket for, doesn't seem to be of any use

The bracket attaches the console skeleton to the shifter, if the console skeleton mount isn't broken off.

I have similar movement on my 4 speed shifter despite rebuilding it with Rodney's kit. Not the same assembly but I'd attribute it to overall looseness of the design.

If you have Rodney's rebuild kit, do it. IMO, that shifter had quite a bit of play.

I have his kit in one of 88GTs. Very good product.
