I had the opportunity to purchase and 85 2m4 fromy Uncle, and I went ahead and pulled the trigger. Should have listened. Everyone told me this is a madness...
Anyway, I will get pictures up eventually. I'm sitting around killing time right now.
My Uncle lives in Ohio. He had purchased this Fiero for one of his grandchildren for her first car, and ended up she didn't want it. So he had been trying get to sell it, but no serious offers. He had one guy and his son come look at it, said they were interested, and never came back. At that time he noticed a leak, and he had the water pump replaced, along with a gas line that had a small hole. Other than that, the car was in great shape. Interior is almost flawless. Paint is a little faded outside, sail panels are cracked, but other than those things, it's a gem.
He had it for 7 years, and it mostly sat at that time. He stored it in one of his pole barns and kept a tender on it. In 7 years, he put 30 miles on it, and that was just back and forth to the shop. So my wife and I went when we were in town one day and looked at it, and decided to get it. Had 91600 miles.
Last weekend, we went home to visit family, and decided to drive it back.it started right up when we went to get it. (He started it up the day before and drove it a short distance to make sure nothing was wrong). I took it to my parents house, drove about 70 miles to see if it had any kinks. Changed the oil, and everything seemed good. Brakes were a little spungy, but nothing dangerous.
Sunday came and we headed home. I was extremely nervous, but confident because my uncle takes good care of his vehicles. We ended up taking the long way home, because I didn't want to run it at 70 mph on I-70. Bottom line, it ran like a gem. No issues whatsoever.
I've driven it to work a few times this past week. Its been fun being able to show it off a bit, and have a Fiero to drive while getting my GT roadworthy. A few folks have razzed me a little bit, but it was all in fun. I've had a couple conversations with folks in town as well, mainly them talking about a Fiero experience they've had, and to say how nice it looks.
Like I said, I'll get pictures up soon. But just wanted to share that the madness has grown for me.
