About to buy my first set of wheels, and the ones I want are 18x8 45 and 18x9.5 45. I don't think those will fit on an '87 stock suspension but I've seen pics of them fitting on an '88. So my question is other than will they fit, but how does the suspension vary in an '88? Is there more clearance around the strut? Is the hub farther out or in? Lastly, anyone who has 18x9.5 45, what did you do to make them fit if they did not

I can't answer the 88 question but a 9.5" wheel will only fit with coilovers in the rear.

18x9.5 with a 40 offset:

A 19x9.5 with a 45 offset. You can see how the wheel is a little more tucked into the fender from the 40 offset wheel:

The 87 and 88 are different in offsets. If I remenber, My 88 has 18x7 with 42 offset front and 18x8 with 32 offset rear... The fronts have a 1" lip and the rears are 1.5" lip

edit to add some pics

These are the wheels I want, and if you said 40 tucks it in, then 45 will realllyyy tuck it in. But in these photos they look so far out!

Contact JCircs from the thread that I posted. That is his white car and the wheels seem to stick out the same amount as the red car in your photo.
