It's always when you think you know something that you realize you really don't. Always thought the '1/2' was for the February released fastback body style. Getrag 5-speed came out June 86 and only around 2000 (true? not?) came out with the getrag (makes sense, being so late in the model year)
but in this thread here (https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Archives/Archive-000002/HTML/20130314-1-085521.html) the 1/2 is also referred to theones that came out with the getrag.
Others (above mentioned thread included) refuse to use the 1/2 moniker because there wasn't enough of a radical change to justify it.
In my book, they're all 86 with different options, the 1/2 designation is pure marketing to try and make some models more desirable.
... and this thread still doesn't have any pictures!

Funny how those images are listed under JL 87 GT V8 when it's not an '87, not a GT, and not a V8 in sight.
Conspiracy Theory Much?
Note his NAME on this forum is...? JL 87 GT (nowhere was it indicated that this car was his only car). Note that the car is set up for a V8, but yes - it is not installed (what exactly where you expecting for $200). Note that the ALBUM you just clicked on, is MINE. I copied the pics from his Facebook post (see my link earlier in the thread), and uploaded them myself (and yes, even named the album myself).

Devil's in the details.
*EDIT* - Don't get me wrong, still a great find for 200$, it's just that WITH a V8 it would have simply been insane hence why people including myself were eager to see the pictures.
I've been accepted in his Fiero group on Facebook and read that he had a 283 built right and he might be considering putting it in this Fiero. Can't wait to see that, it'll rock:
quote
From his Facebook post: " I had a saweet 67 Chevelle that came with a built up 283 done right. The previous owner put all the money in the engine. Turned out it was out of an old vette [...] So blue printed, balanced, ported and cam'ed 283 is my choice. In that big Chevy I used to smoke 350's. In this light car, it's gonna be a blast."
