Brwosing today found these two ads almost one on top of the other. Almost same pictures. Same tag but different VINs. :?

White GT
Burgundy GT

Seems to me the white one has been discussed here before. But maybe I am mis-remembering things a little.

A couple of the pics seem to repeat on each car.

Looks legit AFAICT.

Two different cars from same owner. VIN, mileage are different. Ads are mostly the same, but different. Guy maybe swapped plates to drive around and get freshened up. Some of the pics look like they're the same because they're taken at the asme location, but they are different.

Could be same owner. But many pictures are definitely the same car. Some interior ones, engine, front trunk. Some are cropped. Then not accepting cash? Definitely not sending a good signal these days of so many people stealing pictures and doing Ebay/Craiglist scams. Then if it is a scam the guy must be dumb. Some are so and also the buyers. Anyway. Just checking.

Under the front hood, and the owner's manual - I think are the same pic. Its probably not a problem though; the guy might not have even realized he used the same pic.

Its just kind of odd because neither car has a sunroof, but the under-hood pic shows the sunroof mounts.

Yeah, a closer look you can see some of the red from the body in the pics for the white car. But they both have gray interiors, and are automatic, and 88 GTs. So maybe he just saved some time by taking pics only once for the interior, engine, and under-hood. Or maybe the spare tire pic is from another Fiero he owned and just grabbed it for both. Hard to say.

But people are pretty lazy, and there is a fair bit of effort in the ads. If it is a scam, then he's either extremely lazy, or extremely dumb. Or both. The license plate matches the seller's user name, and the plates are clearly visible on two different cars, with the (at least exterior) pics taken right in front of his house. That's pretty brave for a scam.

Oh, he knows he used the same pic... it's been cropped. And yeah, rather strange that neither car has a sunroof, but supposedly under the hood there are provisions for one.

Maybe a divorce urgent sale that he didn't have too much time? Oh well, who knows. Just found it very odd. Still nice cars if legit. Just a little too high starting bid.

Well, it's had 4 owners. Maybe a previous owner wanted a hardtop and converted it? Or maybe wanted a sunroof and got the storage pieces installed, since they're easy, but never got the roof changed? Or maybe it's just a pic from a third car that the guy had laying around and they all look basically the same anyway.

Nobody has even complained about the asking price yet. Heck, I'll sell my 85 GT with only 62K miles on it for 1/10 what he's asking.

Asking price and buy it now price are very close. No mystery he wants to get (13,125.00) for either. Hope he gets it, will increase the value of all our cars!

Oh sure, doesn't necessarily mean it's a scam... but if it was me who was selling the cars, the last thing I'd want to do is to sow any seeds of suspicion.

Both vins check out here as being right even down to the colors.

But I would never buy a car I couldn't test drive first personally, especially at that price.

Key item "The car has a replacement California-legal catalytic converter that cost three times the price of a standard model. It was installed by the previous owner and according to my research should pass California’s extremely strict smog test requirements. However, I have never had this car smog tested even though it passed the DMV’s visual inspection after I bought it".

Translation.....It failed smog for the first time so you are bidding on a California paperweight for your garage.

With those pictures and the isolated place it only took me like 3 minutes to get his address. Google is creepy! He seems to also have a 90s TransAm so maybe a Pontiac collector. Hope he had the three cars in the garages.

It's rather ironic that it's you who loves to call out other members here as "trolls".

Eventually you're going to wear out your welcome.
