I have wanted to swap in a 4.9 into my 86 SE for a while.
The reality is that the "Bartcar" (my black 1986 SE) has been willfully beaten for years.
I realized I could buy a car cheaper than do a swap into a worn out shell of a loved Fiero.
from Craigslist
87 fiero - $3100 (cowlitz county, WA)
4.9v8 runs extremely well!
custom fit exhaust
paint fair
new rear sides
priced to sell at this price!
ONLY SERIOUS ENQUIRIE$
Test driving the soon to be mine 1987 4.9 5sp GT in Kelso WA.
We looked at and knew it was a hack job that might not make it home in Oregon.
We had "cooling issues" 25 miles south.
The rear alignment was so bad this car was spooky to drive.
And then......... it started to rain.
I wasn't willing to die for a car or a schedule.
We limped the car to Donesky Racing International in Vancouver WA. and parked it.
Came back a week later, had in aligned at Schwab,
check out the right rear before!
Fixed a leak in the fuel rail cross-over.
Had to drive to Portland in Friday night rush hour traffic to acquire o-rings
Did plugs and wires,
Miss Matcheroo !
got it running, went to sleep at 3am
Drove it home the next day.
Pushed it a little too hard, overheated again
I could have never done this without Justin's help.
You are the man!
Besides, have alook at this completely reliable 1986 SE
