I shipped a T-Top assembly a couple years ago. It weighed about 250 pounds but most of that was the crate.
My buyer paid $179 for shipping freight from Orlando to Oklahoma.
I got that price on UShip.com submitted to their "auction-style" listing service.
http://www.uship.com/shipme...ood-Crate/819946654/I dropped it off at the depot and they delivered to a business. This kept the cost lower.
The crate cost about $100 to build but it made it to its destination undamaged.
Here's how I did it...
I cut the windshield with a sawzall. It made a lot less of a glass mess than you would expect. I used duct tape and cut through the tape.
I bolted 2x4s between the A pillars and the B pillars too. Then I connected the A to the B to form a square.

I cut the metal off below the A pillars and below the B pillars so that I didn't disturb the impossible to replace seals.
One removed from the car I constructed a box around the entire section.

I closed it in with thin MDF and flipped it up on it's end so that it took up less floor space in a truck.
