I'm getting the car ready for the Daytona show and still lots to do but here is the car with a fresh paint job. Still a bit dusty haven't washed it yet.
So tell us the details. Who did the work? What did it cost? What kind of prep? Which panels were removed? How many coats did they shoot?
Thanks, Jonathan
I thank everyone for the compliments, however the place where I got it done I would not go to again or recommend. Don't want to go into detail and since I have nothing good to say about them I'd rather not mention their name or say anything other than following.
Communication was terrible, so I don't know how many coats they shot, however by the shine/gloss it looks like a good amount. they took the door panels off and the bumper (I dropped by one day and that was the state of the car) don't know if they took the front bumper off? cost was near 2 g's about 3 hundred above estimated price (first time I went to pick it up I was not happy, shop owner had to step in and to make it as close to a show car paint job (which is what should have been done in the first place) without breaking the bank which made the price go up by 3 hundred dollars.
even though I love the way it is now, if I had to do it all over again with the same people I would not. I had zero communication throughout the whole deal. I was promised the car in 6 days it took 1 mth and 2 weeks.
Now the car is getting the rest of the restoration done (new carpet, seats, suspension, 4.9 engine, basically the whole nine yards, don't know if it will all be done by Daytona time but that's what I'm aiming for.

I've never understood this.. Why not save your local Fiero and car enthusiast brothers the grief of dealing with a sub par shop? I have been the victim of a shop like this, except you got off lucky. The one I took my car to did at least $500 in damage, a hack job, and held it hostage for almost 2 months..
Apart from that, the job came out beautifully. I've never seen the Maroon as it was new, and I never knew it could look so good. A show stopper for sure.
Looks great. After a month or 2 let a professional detailer buff it out with compound and you will see an even greater outcome. It dont even look like it has much orangepeel at all...not worth color sanding.

Wouldn't want anyone to go to these people so if you're in Miami Florida and going to paint your car shoot me an IM with the name of the body shop and I'll let you know if its the same shop I went to.
My rule on engine installs is do them before the paint job. Good luck though. Its REALLY easy to scratch or chip paint doing anything that major. At least on Fieros, most of the work is done thru the bottom....but you still have belt buckles and shirt buttons to deal with. Fresh paint is even easy to scratch with a plain old T-shirt.
