this is a cool read but i just want instructions on how to remove the mirror part itself out of the unit to do a few things in behind . dont want to break the glass or any of the unit.
Unfortunately, you will risk the glass breaking. I just went down to my garage, grabbed my power mirror from my shelf, pushed the glass to one side so the outer lip was sticking up, and simply grab the plastic that the mirror is mounted in and pull. It will unsnap from the rear motor. To reinstall it, simply line up the 2 tabs and press firmly in the center of the glass and it snaps back in.
Definately. You don't need to remove it to do any of the work. Just try to stick as much of your hand behind the mirror glass and pull outwards. That way you won't flex the glass too much.
