I just did my air cleaner restoration and finally getting to posting....

the first thing was to meada blast all the old paint and surface rust off and wipe with wax and grease remover and into the booth for prime and paint

now it it time to mix the epoxy primer, it is a one to one mix ratio, one part primer to one part hardner
I like to use a mix stick like shown

now once mixed it needs to set 15mins before spraying

I first sprayed the inside of the air cleaner and lid two coats with a 15-20min flash/dry time in between coats

then flipped them over to do the outside

after 30mins flash of the last coat of primer I shot satin black urethane two coats on the parts as above with the primer

after drying over night this is the out come, in my opinion vary nice finish and oem look that will out last oem

please let me know what you think or any questions

products used where Tamco epoxy primer and jet black satin urethane

It's surprising how rusty those parts get.

Very nice job! Much nicer than the brush on black rustoleum that I applied.

that looks really good, and trust me, I know how much time & work goes into something that from the outside, seems so trivial "Oh you painted the air cleaner" LOL!

Really great job on the air cleaner. The paint looks really slick. The step by step break down on what you did, how you did it, and what you used is awesome. Really informational.
