I need to check the level and condition of the fluid. I need some instruction, please. And what is the fluid? If I need to find out what kind of manual transaxle my car has where do I find that out? It's an 84 SE 4 speed.

In 84 there were 2 4-speed transmissions. I think the SE had the M19. You can determine that by looking at the sticker on the driver's side front wheel well...(under the hood). There will be a M19 or a MY8 listed.

Download the 84 Owner's Manual for instructions on checking/filling transmission and capacities.

Use AC Delco, Pennzoil or Quaker State SYNCHROMESH Manual Transmission Fluid
