They're going to total it. The company will offer you about $500 for it to see if they can buy you out. If you decline it they'll come back with roughly 600-650. Either way for an 84 you might get 1000 out of it. Now for the good part, in Missouri, a salvage title is issued when the car is involved in a total loss accident. When this occurs a owner can buy back his possession for a nominal fee. ( roughly scrap value) it is then up to the owner to file for and obtain the salvage title. If they fail to do this, or the vehicle is repaired to pre crash conditions, then there is no reason to file for the salvage title. Therefore the once salvage car is now fixed and still clean as far as paper work goes. This came from the DMV after a semi backed over my grandprix. So fear not, your baby will live on again. Even if by some happening you do have a salvage title, that really only causes problems when selling the car.
I own page two hooray!

Just got off the phone with GEICO. They are going to give us $3154.89 to repair the car and since I did not take a rental car they are going to pay me $500.00 for that. My wife was in a very nice place when I called to tell her the news and could Barely contain herself from yelling out in her excitement. She was jumping up and down and I could tell she was fighting to keep her voice down.

I just hope they didn't make a mistake and they change the amount. This Almost makes up for the crappy effects of SXSW here in Down Town.

Car is at the body shop. Paint color chosen and ordered. It's going to be Grabber Blue.

As it sits today.

I had them fill in the antennae

The lip the headlight door sits on is cracked so I am going to grab a different hood.

And now I can make fun of my wife for having a car that's 4 Different colors like she did on my old truck lol

This is a photoshop of the car as grabber blue.

And a picture of a car actually Painted that color.

We were also thinking about these colors but decided against them for various reasons.

I might have missed it but Who is at fault? Who got the ticket? If someone other than your wife was at fault you should be ok. Glad she was not hurt.

The Honda Civic was at fault and got a ticket for failure to yield. Insurance settled and paid us to fix the car without totaling it out.

Make fun of me for my temporarily 4-colored car while you can! It's gonna be the best looking Fiero on the block very shortly!

Thanks to everyone for your support & concern. I am indeed fine, especially knowing my baby is getting taken care of. Got full range of movement in my neck again & no lasting effects from the whiplash.

Edit: oh yeah & I finally decided on the grabber blue. It was a tough call but my original choice was the Carolina Tar Heel blue when people started giving me other ideas. I finally took my own advice & went with my gut instinct.

Becca, you know in 87 Pontiac painted a small amount of cars a blue. It looks very, very nice on a Notchie.

I stole this picture off of someones posting here on PFF.

The blue ford color is real nice. See you guys at Round-Up next week end.

Joe, I showed her that color and she didn't want to go for that because it was too close to the shade of our truck. The Grabber Blue is close to UNC's Carolina Blue. Since she is a Tar Heel fan this works lol

Well they have had the car for over a month and have not had time to touch it. I have been checking back every 2 weeks with them just to see where they are with it because since I dropped it off it was supposed to be "Next in Line" I just spoke to them a while ago and they said that they can start on the car on May 13th and have it finished by Friday the 17th. In the mean time I am going to pick up the car and get a few things done to it such as remount the antenna in the A Pillar, remove the door panels, trim pieces inside, the luggage rack and the belt line trim. I'm probably going to ask them if I can just remove all the panels except the roof and notchback section and have them paint each piece individually and then reassemble or let me reassemble it. We will see.

I painted all of mine off of the car. I did not want overspray anywhere. I went to a Maaco in Houston. They refused to use any paint, except their own junk paint. But the off of the car part was fine with them.

Well I dropped the car off on Monday and they said it would be finished on Friday but that is not going to be the case. I dropped by yesterday to give them the belt line trim clips I ordered from the Fiero Store. They have started sanding down the hood and prepping it and they let me see the paint in the can. Looked like it had just come in from Ford.

Getting close, hopefully finished by next week.

Ben

I know in Ohio the person making the left is always at fault for failure to yield. I was in a wreck where I was making a left and got hit by a guy doing 55+mph in a 35mph zone. Guy left 10 feet of skid mark trying to stop before he plowed me. He got a ticket for speeding, they dropped his speeding ticket to 19mph so he didn't get reckless operation. I went to court bringing up the point that it shouldn't be my fault because of his speed. I got the ticket for the accident, the points for the accident and added court costs. Ohio is just a money making machine for tickets and court cost...

Sorry for the hijack...
Hmmmm. A year ago. Hard to tell. If it was a black GT it was this guy Randy around the corner from me (really nice car). Last year I was driving a red 86 GT that I sold to my brother. Before that it was a red 86 notchie and a blue 87 GT beyond that... I need to get my purple 3800n/a finished and do something with my 3800sc motor. I have 2 Fieros on Dayton Craigslist right now or come by sometime.

Well it's been a while. There has been some progress made but not much. These pictures were taken on may 23rd.

[IMG]http://i738.photobucket.com/albums/xx22/Marine_Vet1981/Pontiac%20Fieros/Fiero%20Carnage/2013-05-23161942_zps403b5e0a.jpg[ /IMG]

Stopped by on 6/11 and they at least have some primer put on the car.

They still need to fill in the holes for the license plate bracket and the bumper had some pin striping on it that is showing through the primer a bit.

[IMG]http://i738.photobucket.com/albums/xx22/Marine_Vet1981/Pontiac%20Fieros/Fiero%20Carnage/2013-06-11154325_zps5b495c48.jpg[ /IMG]

There was some repair work to this fender they needed to finish. A scratch above and to the left of the wheel well. I didn't check to see if they filled in the antenna hole or not.
[IMG]http://i738.photobucket.com/albums/xx22/Marine_Vet1981/Pontiac%20Fieros/Fiero%20Carnage/2013-06-11154335_zps3daf22c1.jpg[ /IMG]

They didn't take the trunk lock out, hope that doesn't get too messed up. Rockers are going to be painted blue too. Bumper pads, trim, and mirrors will either be satin or flat black.

Does it look like they left the door handles on too?? I need to get the small trim pieces that go behind the door panel. I think I broke the ones I had. Oops. I dropped the car off on 5/13. They told me it would be finished by 5/17. Might be finished by 6/17 but who knows. I would rather they not rush and do it right but man am I ready to get back behind the wheel!
