O.K I am just checking to see if there is anyone who has a hard top who would like to convert it into a sunroof. I own a 86GT with a sunroof. I want a hardtop. I would be willing to trade roof panels and all hardware. I would just need your help in labor to get it all done. Color doesn't matter to me as i will be painting soon.

Man, I wish you lived closer! If you want to meet me at Bobadoo's at the end of this month, I'd be happy to do the swap with you.

Now I have to edit because I wanted to be the first one to post...

I've had sunroofs and enjoyed the air they provide, but not the light- it bothers me when I drive. I now have a notchie with no sunroof. Being tall, I miss the extra room above but can deal with it. Just recently I found a post where FLASHY painted his sunroof...

This would be the way I'd go, and I think it looks great. Here's the link: https://www.fiero.nl/forum/A...040223-1-032184.html

Since you're going to paint the car anyway, why not consider this idea? I don't think you'll be disappointed with the result.

Edit again... If you decided to go this route, I've replaced the rubber washers that separate the hardware and glass connections with rubber washers found at Lowes- easy to do and a good idea to get everything "new" again. I don't think I'd paint them though- looks like they're painted in the photos- unless you can find colored rubber washers that match your paint.

If you do decide to remove your sunroof panel, the hardest part is getting the goo just above the windshield that connects the fiberglass with the body to separate without cracking the pillar sections. Using something like piano or guitar wire should work, and I would think that a nice long sharp thin knife would be OK to use. Since it's so gooey, the key is separate it and keep it from gooing back together as you work at it. Painting the sunroof sure would be easier.

If you decide to take your car and want to switch, I'd be happy to- and have it off and ready for you so you wouldn't have to wait.
