Maybe I'd ask did you ever? But I guess.. do you now, or think you will? I'm sort of thinking aches and pains will come more, but inside do you pretty much feel like you are the same, just in an aging body?
Different experiences could make one more well rounded, more understanding, or more jaded, but maybe I'm thinking more about what you feel like standing solitary?
mentally I feel like late teens to early 20's, physically after high school soccer, basketball, baseball, then into college baseball as a catcher, yeah my knees and hips feel like they are 60 some days. Do i feel all of my 43 years, some days yes, most days hell no.
I'm young so this answer won't mean as much as others considering the question concerns age but...
Hangovers finally started happening a year or so ago. I used to drink like an elephant in a pond but now limits get reached!
Physically: I know I'm answering the other side of the question, but my answer is no. I have bad knees and will eventually need surgery and a bad back, but the knees have been bad since I was a young teenager and my back has been bad since an accident well over a decade ago. So they don't make me feel old. My body is just my body. It will all eventually go bad but I'll just find more creative ways to deal with my pain.
Mentally: I am just me. I have changed some opinions, but internally I am the same guy I was twenty years ago. People tell me we change. I don't know. Experiences can help form opinions and warp outward appearances but are we, as people, ever fundamentally different? Good question.

yes. i feel it. pleasure and pain is nature's way of reminding us we're still alive. suck it up, good and bad, all of it. wheeee!
the bravado is gone, but the confidence is still there, more "seasoned". i'm no longer sure i'll survive the apocalypse, but i'll go down swingin'. like i told the good looking blonde at work, "the flames may not burn as high, but there's still plenty of heat in the coals. throw another log on the fire."

I alternate between a few different ages, depending on the day, who I'm with, how well I've slept, and how naked I am at the moment.
I 'm trying NOT to focus on the "aches and pains", but the past few years have introduced a bunch of new ones, and I splinted them/braced them/worked on strengthening the area (and sourounding areas), But I try not to dwell on them (other then briefly vent about them here or to some random people near on on the trains).
I try not to let pain affect me too much, but dang, it's one heck of a teacher at times. Lose the megaphone, ok?
You are being generous, Marvin. She probably laughed so long she lost her breath, fell down, and broke a wrist. When lurker pays off the related bills, he won't tell any woman anything that silly again.
Either that or she smiled politely and said, " Sure, grandpa. At least you have confidence. "
lurker has a, a . . . let's just say lurker has quite an imagination.

after 29 years of abusing my body with boxing and partying, I feel much older than i should. I still jog and hit the weights but i feel more sluggish when i do so. Last boxing match was when i was 21.

I'm 70 and I thank the Lord daily for my good health. I don't take any medicine, a lot of people my age do, I walk with my dogs a 1/2 hour everyday and do some exercises daily. I work on things, but admittedly slowly and take a lot of newspaper reading breaks. All my life I fretted about not enough time for my hobbies and now retired it has become so easy to just murder time.

I used to think I'd live to be 100---now I sure hope I do not. Answer your question?
I used to think I'd never make it to 30, then when I reached 30 I said there is no way I will make it to 40, at 40 I said there is now way in hell I will make it to 50, at 50 I said I hope I don't make it to 60. everything hurts from the time I wake up until the time I go to sleep, even wake up in the middle of the night in pain. I take more drugs to keep me alive than I did to have fun when I was using them for that. And the painkillers I eat like M&Ms.
So what do you think.

84fiero im sorry to hear that. i know those pain pills are pure hell on earth. But we humans can overcome anything , dont ever give up.
oh I will never give up, never surrender, and will go down fighting, but there are times I would just rather eat a bullet than wait for the pain meds to help. One of the reasons I would prefer pot as a pain killer, smoke a bowl and almost instant relief, eat a vicodin and wait, and wait, and wait and wait some more. and if I go do something, Christ I have to use the Dons advise on pain, "I got to get this done, it doesn't matter how much pain I am in or it causes me." that is my downfall, and doesn't help the problems, pain pills or pot just mask it, that's what you, me especially have to watch out for. You, I especially do things you/I shouldn't and that just makes the problems causing the pain to begin with worse.
take the advise of an old man and stop doing that thing you live for, if you ever get to be my age, 58, 59 next month if I make it that far. I used to do karate, savate, kunfu when I was your age and I think that is one of the reasons for the pain in my legs, knees, hip and back.
But pain can be your friend, It tells you that your still alive and should stop doing what you are doing.

Pushing 55 now, look better and am in better physical condition than a large percentage if not most of the young people today, a fact I find rather disgusting. I pale to my former self though. Youth is wasted on the young.

Must be a Pacific North-West thing. I'm 58, and still play hockey once a week (I'm Canadian, eh!), as well as go to weekly yoga classes. I'm not a "health freak" but I don't abuse myself by eating/drinking crap, and my alcohol consumption might average out to one glass of wine a week. My hair is dark (and I still have it). The only thing that really gives away my age is my grey beard. My dad is 94, still has most of his hair, and still lives on his own (since my mom passsed away seven years ago at age 86). I guess the secret is to have good genes.
Being single again after a twelve year relationship, I find the biggest issue is that I've got no interest in women from my age group, but I don't want to came across as some old letcher. I should ask Roger how he gets away with it.

Actually, Not to sound too much of a downer but the only reason I don't commit suicide is because people around me still need me.
I'm always hopeful of medical advancements though. So far they have done wonders for me but just enough to keep me going.
Do I feel my age? Hell no! I feel cheated and a prisoner in a destroyed body. But I counter that with that I do feel lucky and thankful also. I have been given so many chances.
I guess it depends on the day.

Heh, maybe you just need to get OK with it!
I was kind of hoping I would have NO interest in it by now, now that would be true freedom baby! Less stupid choices to make, less money spent on those stupid choices, and one less way to control me! but,,,,,,,,, still fun and still stupid after all these years.........

i've begun to suspect that declining interest in women is because (a) women our age rarely look yummy, and (b) we know just how much trouble younger women can be. reality kind of sucks sometimes, but it is what it is.

Yeah, but that kind of trouble isn't all that hard to take. Mine's 15 yrs younger.
But.......it doesn't always work out.
A man walked into a supermarket with his zipper down. A lady cashier walked up to him and said, "Your barracks door is open." This is not a phrase we men normally use so he went on his way looking a bit puzzled. When he was about done shopping, a man came up and said, "Your fly is open." He zipped up and finished his shopping.
He then intentionally got in the check out line where the lady was that told him about his "barracks door." He was planning to have a little fun with her. When he reached her counter he said, "When you saw my barracks door open did you see a soldier standing in there at attention?"
The lady thought for a moment and said, "No, no, I didn't. All I saw was a disabled veteran sitting on two duffel bags!!!

i'm glad you asked. granted, the (dare i say it?) sexiest part of a woman is her mind, to really discover that, first you must traverse her hills and valleys, explore her peaks and lush glades.

I feel in my mind an age that my body cant keep up with, those are the women that attract my eye.

84 i heard the same thing since i started muy thai boxing (thai kickboxing) , if you throw high kicks and condition your shins and elbows to get thicker , you will pay for it later in life through hip pains and everything else you threw around down there.
I already feel bone rubbing on bone when i perform the "split" or and you reach a certain level of flexability where even throwing kicks you feel bone on bone rubbing and it HURTS
lurker's description, not mine. Haven't ever described a woman as yummy. As for too old, I'm not even close. lurker appears to be, though.

If this is positive, I think it is, this is the right attitude.
FYI, lurker, if the missus goes before I do, I will wait an appropriate period of mourning, then start on the list. It currently has twelve names on it.

I'm at an age (and disposition) where I really don't want someone else around all the time (I've got Fieros to fix ), but all my body parts still work and I'd like to keep them all functional. (Use it or lose it.) So it's quite a dilemma.

Tell ya what... you young "bucks" (that's with a "b", right?) can have the "yummy" 50-something women, and us old guys can then take care of the 20-something girls. Might be the first time they experience how it's supposed to be done.

When I was practicing I could kick the top of a doorway, now I am lucky to walk the dogs a mile and not be in so much pain I have to stop and rest before going any farther. Some people get away with it, think people like Chuck Norris or Jackie Chan, but then Jackie Chan has broken almost every bone in his body. Not sure about Chuck.
