I found a car iv'e been looking for in Phoenix. Its a 400+ Hp Volvo 242 turbo and long story short is I want this car! I would like to have someone look at it on my behalf before driving from Missouri to get it. This is a list of what I would want sent back to me.

A ton of pics
An honest review of the car over all
(A test drive if willing) (A LOT of what if's on this)
A video of it running
And a in depth look at the workman ship of the wiring (its running MS3 with a Halltec display). The entire car is custom wiring and I want wiring that has been done properly not pole connectors holding them together.

I will pay you for your time even if the car does not work out. I can pay cash, pay pal, money order or whatever you want. If this fails I found a car in Sweden but importing the thing is looking like more of a PITA than its worth. So, if anyone in the area is willing to help me out I will throw you some extra bones.

Thanks,
Kris.

Bump. I don't feel like wasting around a thousand bucks in travel expenses to find out the car is not as listed. I also found a 242 race car in OKC if anyone in the area would be willing to check that out it would be the same deal as before.

If you can find a b230ft swapped 242 in Missouri I will gladly buy it and pay a finders fee.
I am willing to travel to either coast

in Phoenix rust should not be a problem BUT 242 are pre-galvinized bodys so do rust eazy
so check if the cars was ever in the rust/salt belt before it got to Phoenix

and at 400 + hp all the drive train is way over stressed
it needs a trans swap and rear end too,
the original volvo bits will not live at that level
many cars use ford 9'' rears and T-5 trans or toyota getrags [ from a supra turbo]
also needs better brakes

Car im looking at is a swapped BMW trans, 16lb fly wheel inside of a custom machined adapter plate. Half the car is done with Yoshifab parts so they are pretty stout. I went through 3 M47 transmissions in my 240 so I know all about broken Volvo bits lol. The rear end is beefed up rocking 4.71 in the rear.

Not trying to derail your thread but how about something made here from the 60s, that was the decade for cars made with almost 1 hp per cube here.

my 67 firebird 400 had 365 HP

GTXs from the same era had 375 hp

65 GTOs had 335 hp

lots more but don't remember them and don't have time to look but I love the 60s era muscle cars and the power they put out, not to mention they had style like nothing has today, besides they would be a lot easier to find than some of the cars you are looking for.

but to each his own, good luck finding what You want.

Steve

123 it is also about money
volvo even 242 turbo's are dirt cheap vs USA 60's collector cars values
nice cars are still 5-10k vs 100k+++ for a good old goat firebird or GTX WITH REAL POWER

AND NOBODY EXPECTS 400HP IN AN OLDER VOLVO

I live in the Phoenix area... Where exactly is the vehicle located? It can take 1.5hrs to drive from one side of the valley to the other. Phoenix is a very large metro area.

This asshat totaled his car. Whatever, thats 5 grand back in my pocket. And the hunt continues. Know what really sucks, when you have the means to buy something but cant find it. I can find 300 horse 240's all day long but no 242's. I found a amazon but 7800 bucks is steep for what it is.
