For the past couple of weeks Kate Middleton's birth of a royal baby is on the news. The people of London are lining up in front of the hospital now waiting for the official announcement. Them people need to get a life.

While I may not be glued to it in the news I don't find it being a horribe thing. It isn't too often that you will see a positive news story stick around for so many cycles. I mind the royal baby much less the Travon Martin debocle or the Asiana airlines crash.

Honestly, I don't understand all the hype. Watching several different morning news shows this morning, I discovered this to be the main topic. Seems like it's been mentioned at least once every news cast since the conception. Don't get me wrong, I don't wish Miss Kate, the child or the father of the baby any bad Karma or anything like that but, I really don't understand why the American media thinks we care one way or another. Personally, I think it's all about building up the hype to generate more viewers. I personally don't care if it's a boy or a girl, I don't know anyone that does care.
Unfortunately, it looks like this baby is the next new shiny object to catch our attention. Reminds me of the days I used to fish. Always liked those lures that had the shiny reflecting surfaces. Seemed to catch more fish with them. Are we that gullible? It appears many of us are.

Heh, off topic but those shiny lures are mostly for catching the fisherman, and they work! I have a wall off them so yes, we are that gullible. Record Steelhead on the Skykomish river was taken with a hand tied black mosquito here one year.

Kind of like any Kennedy that wants to run, we do the royalty thing a bit different on this side of the pond.
We do, and if you really buy into the "lucky sperm club" mentality then you should support putting ALL babies in a common pool to be drawn by parents at random so there is no advantage of money, race or genetics because it is not fair any other way. It is easier to sit back and throw poo though.
I would MUCH rather see Kate than Trayvon on the TV morning, noon and night.
Well, there is that.
But, on the other side of that coin, I'd kind of like to know if there's any rioting anywhere also.

Yeah, what idiots. The silly Brits could be putting their time to much better use by watching American-made reality TV.
People on both sides of the pond waste their time doing stupid things.

Yep, or playing make believe with video games, or keeping up with whatever the flavor of the month sexpot actress is doing today--or who the slut of the month is boinking, or which celebrity OD'd this time and in whose bed.

Exactly.
Maybe it's my Irish roots, but I couldn't give a phlying phart about the "Royals". If people (Brits or otherwise) wish to grovel at their feet, that's their business.

Thank God I'm not saddled with any of those concerns!

On one level, I hear ya.
but
What else are we all supposed to do?
I sometimes think it would actually be worse if most people weren't constantly distracted by such trivial things...
Some people do horrible things, and when asked why they did it, it was done "because they were bored".
Dumb stuff and "entertainment tech" and cell phones, and a million different ways to stoke the ego and our naughty bits...

I was agreeing with you. My pithy comments of great exaggeration to prove a point were directed at Pyrth. He says the same thing (luck sperm) every time something comes up like this.
(I noticed a news headline and short blurb explaining that America's current queen of shallow worship --Amanda Bynes, is in some sort of mental health crisis and has set a fire in the middle of a nursing home driveway.)
BFD--so what else is new with the hollywood elite morons?

Amanda who? Never heard of her. Should I be concerned?
No. She's a moron. The International Moron Worshipping Society will handle your share of concern for you at absolutely no out of pocket expense to you. But wait--there's more. If you won't care right now, they will also tongue that Lohan girl's buttcrack for you---as an extra added value simply for not caring.

I wish them and the baby well, but I am annoyed that people in our country even care in the slightest.
But... I guess I shouldn't be too mean about it. In truth, it's our heritage to NOT want to care about the British royal family.
Which is why I don't really get it. Holland, Belgium, and I think even Thailand just got new Kings in the past couple months, and that was all of about 1/4 of a days worth of news. Why is the birth of a British Prince dominating the news? Hahah...

I caught the point, was just making a point that my kids should consider themselves damn lucky one of my forefathers bought a ticket here. Funny no matter how much the politicians rape our country, it will always be the best place in the world to hang your hat.
