I had just watched October Sky for the first time tonight, great movie by the way. I was doing some background reading on the main character (Homer Hickam) who is a retired NASA engineer. In Wikipedia I stumbled upon this little tidbit, he gave this girl a ticket to the U.S. Space Academy.

Its nice to see something positive like this for a change, I'm truly jealous of her. A ride to space camp for mixing chemicals together/ making loud noise and consequently getting arrested- I'll take it! lol

I met him. He was here for a book signing a few years ago for the local library. Absolute egghead. Like, "The Big Bang Theory" come to life.
