The scarey part ???

He has solved more of it than I ever did, and they let me around machines, electricity, power tools, automobiles and airplanes......

<edit>

Oh, LOL, that brings back memories.....I used the "Jim Kirk" soloution....peeled off all the stickers, put them on wax paper so the glue wouldnt be ruined, and re-stickered it.......YUP, I cheated and broke the rules to solve an un-solvable problem.....at about 10 years old or whenever they cam out.

DAMN YOU RUBIX !!!!!!!!!

There's a mathematical formula for that, which will allow anyone to be able to solve one in under a minute.

I don't know it myself, but a bunch of people at work know it. Basically, you rotate it one way, spin it a set number of times, rotate it again, spin it a set number of times, rotate it again, and repeat this until it's solved itself.

Not really how it works.

It goes by patterns. What the block looks like is the formula you do next.

I can do it in under a minute. It isn't really impressive anymore once you find out how to do it. When I was the only one in my high school who could do it 7 years ago... then yeah, it was cool then.

I used to have instructions for it--got them back in the 80s from my cousin. Basically, you solved one side, the face and adjoining edge pieces, which isn't all that hard to do. From there, the instructions led you through solving the other side. If one corner correct, put it here and do these moves. If two, etc. Once the two opposite faces were correct (and the adjacent side pieces) then you just had the four other middle pieces to worry about, which was pretty easy. I couldn't do it today, but when you had the instructions memorized, you could impress some people.

Dude, WTF? Peel off the stickers? Heck I could pop the damn thing apart and put it back together correctly before you had all the stickers off...
