There are a number of things you can do and each has pluses and minuses. You would probably be best off just wiping the hard drive and re-installing Windows.

You can also pull the drive out and hook it up to another computer to scan and clean it. There is a potential risk of infecting the other computer but it is low so long as you don't open any files on the infected drive.

You could also try to boot from a usb drive and run the scan that way.

or cd. plenty of live cds out there. But its just not worth it. Boot off cd, copy off what you *have* to have then reload.

Have you tried reinstalling Windows?Did you go into the Biose and set to boot from CD\DVD and disable ALL other boot sources. Allso try Googleing "Windows on USB".You should be able to install windows on a thumb drive,if your still haveing problems, but thats only if the Biose alows you to boot from USB....Good Luck.
The missing programs might be hidden.

First check BSOD Stop code!
Assuming malware/virus is not a good idea. Might have malware but something else can cause the BSOD, w/ or w/o the malware.

Laptop are great for loose connections etc. unPlug/plugin "easy" parts like HD RAM etc.

Try UBCD and test RAM HD etc

This is why we setup a Linux machine for the first step of virus cleaning.
After that follow up with Malware Bytes, Combofix, ccleaner, & finally chkdsk/defrag.

Ideally, do as much of this in safe mode/command prompt only, & safe mode with networking for definition updates.
