So whats everyone think about the man who smacked a misbehaving baby on an airline flight yesterday ?

Id say its assault plain and simple, and just wrong to hit another persons kid if your a stranger. I guess the guys employer saw the news and fired him on the spot. He also apparently called the baby a ' n ' word kid.

In a way, I do sympathize with him. Some people have no control over their kids (although this one was under 2 years). Id dread being stuck trying to nap on a flight next to a screaming kid. I even hate to put up with it in a restaurant. I do think people with kids they think will be a problem should not be on a plane in the first place. Maybe airlines should also make closed off areas like at the tail for travelers with kids under a certain age so they dont bother other passengers like they do for first class. If a kids acting up in a boarding area, you can bet hes going to be trouble in a flight, so maybe they should refuse boarding and give a refund.....(just a thought)

I have been exposed to it many times.
Kids cry in the world.
No one wants it to happen.
Not even their own mothers.
But it does.

I just accept it as part of living among other humans.

That guy got lucky.
He could've been carried off the plane.

You would think someone that works in the aerospace industry would know that the change in air pressure can cause babies to cry.

The report said he was drunk. It doesn't excuse his behavior, but it explains it.
People have a way of acting like themselves when they're inebriated.

I'm glad it came out and he was penalized for it. I feel sorry for the kid, but at least he'll grow up without remembering that outside of reading it in the news.

What a dbag.

Yeah, that's right!

The plane was decending for landing, in 15 or 20 minutes, he would have been off the plane, what a big dummy. Alttitude affects people's judgement too, the alcohol didn't help any either.

I have been following this story.

There are witness's to his racial slurs.

Another passenger had to step in to protect the child.

He has been fired from his high paying job.

Northern Idaho, so no suprise on the racial slurs.

At first i thought that perhaps a mother that was over protective, but as the story grows, this dude NEEDS his azz kicked. Hit someone else's kid!

Had it been my toddler someone smacked, they'd have ended up in traction. It wasn't the kids fault. It was either the decent or the parents. Pick one and smack the plane or the parents, NOT the kid.

If it were my child, he would have been carried off the plane after striking my child. Pure and simple. I would have had a case of temporary insanity and beat the snot out of him.

Roger - I do not sympathize with him in the least, and you make it read as if it were the parents fault. A child that young that can't clear their ears will be inconsolable. There is no way this douche-bags behavior is understandable - at all. It is okay to be annoyed, but to slap a baby?....

Hell, I will go one further and say I probably would have leaped to the child's defense if I were on the plane. This is one story that really boils my blood....

Blaming the baby? Maybe people who don't like others should not fly or they should buy a first class ticket to avoid interacting with anyone.
