I run a self serve car wash, people wash their cars at the strangest times. I have customers who wash their car while it's raining.....OK they want to get the salt off, but lots of them pay extra for the dryer........it's friggen raining people your car is going to get wet.

if your car is dirty rain will just make it look worse. I do agree the dryer is sort of silly, but not the washing.

Yes, but in my defense it wasn't raining when I started and I wasn't going to quite with half the job done.

Yes. Pollen in the spring can make a white car turn a nasty shade of green that reminds of split pea soup.

It's worse for the red car.

I've washed cars in the rain, but it has been at home in the driveway. Pull it back in the garage & chamois it off.

In this area of Georgia we're under year-round restrictions on outdoor water usage. Odd house numbers on Mon-Wed-Fri, even numbers on Tue-Thu-Sat. Outdoor use only between midnight and 7AM. Several years ago, on a particularly dry period, there was total restriction. One day we were lucky enough to get a good soaking rain, so my Granddaughter and I soaped up the Fieros and had at it. The local newspaper caught us and featured us on the front page for being so resourceful and obeying the ban.

ive washed mine in the rain. Its dirty and its only 30 yards from the wash to my garage. All I have to do is dry it off and its clean next time I drive it.

What amazes me is watching people wash them out my window when its near zero and they cant figure out how to get back in their car. dont they think it may be abad idea when the floor and walls have 4" of ice on them ?

Same here--kinda. It's a habit I got into when I lived in San Angelo Tex, for 10 years, and we were under similar water use restrictions. Now, I'm in East Texas where I'm on my own well, and it rains all the time, but I just kept to my old habits.

Nurb--clean is a relative term I guess. When you live within a pine forest and pollen of every description flows like a fog, wind is always blowing, and the driveway is 1/4 mile of sand and iron ore, they only stay completely clean for a short while anyway, but ya gotta keep most of it rinsed off somehow.

I like a pretty clean cars, but I've really never washed my car on a rainy day, now the day after....yes. There have been lots of good reasons listed for washing in the rain, but I will wait for the day after it rains.

Not yet .......but I have considered doing that. Reluctant 'cause I thought the neighbors would consider me crazy. Then it dawned on me.......they all ready think I'm crazy! But seriously, I'm gonna start washing in the rain 'cause my water is so, so hard that when I rinse my car after washing......it looks like I've rinsed with ocean salt water!!! Pisses me off to spend a couple hours doing a really thorough wash job, and then having to go over the car with Windex or Wipe and Shine to get rid of water spots.

Can you clear a snowflake, I did an old Camaro custom paint job many years ago and a Monarch butterfly landed on the hood. I cleared the hell out of it and gently pressed him flat in it. Looked awesome, dont know how long it lasted. Owner thought it looked amazing. I told him if it messed up, bring it back and Id strip and reshoot it free. He never came back.

Many times, at home, saves on rinse effort. I usually take a warm shower after. Our warm rain showers are rare.
