Realistic 1220 (there is no replacement for displacement)
This system is awesome for my first and I got home, girlfriend still at work so I decided to "enjoy" the new speakers.
Ever since I got them I could hear a muddyish sound in the high end. Well it was a megaphone tweater that sounded like absolute butthole so I unscrewed it and un plugged it. Now the sound is awesome!!!!
Amazing how just one little 2' tweater can muk up an entire experiance.
Just thought I would share.

Dont worry I will make it surround sound soon. Once I have the will to

I still have my Marantz receiver, but I gave up on the BIG speakers when I moved to GA. Nice set up.

I bought a set of Polk Audio towers and 400watt sub a few months back and did the same thing. Was watching "Transformers" and the sub boomed out a special effect sound so low it caused me to have a spontaneous bowel movement.

These are mine.

Each cabinet has two 10" Dayton woofers (installed after these pics were taken), a 5" Pioneer mid (have some refoamed Peerless sealed mids to go back in, when I get time), and an ancient Dynaco tweeter.

I like to feel the room move when I listen to music.

A guy at work has a pair of 15" Vega 3 ways for like $250.
I'm seriously considering...

I love my Cerwin Vega's!
My 12" which when powered by my Yamaha receiver have no problem removing pictures from the wall.

Oh yes, size matters! Somehow, an iPod dock with a 3" speaker just doesn't rock the house.

OFF THE FOUNDATION!

Now you're just making my old Infiniti RS3000 series (8" woofer + 'polycell' tweeter) feel downright...inadequate.

Yeah baby, now we're talking, I love the verbage.

I admire the systems that you guys posted here, put on a good old war movie, i'll bring the steaks and popcorn!

For the DIY speaker building folks, I've used "Parts Express" online before , great pricing, good service. Fair warning, the site is total eye candy for the audio afficiando.....

Speaking about war movies, I'm off work this week, it's about time I stick the cats to the ceiling again, bwahahaha.

Cool setups! I'm a big audio nut just working with what I have now.... I have 2 100 Watt Pioneer floor speakers with 10" subs, a big old Kenwood Receiver, and a 3500 Watt Power Acoustik 15" sub woofer, powered by a 4000 Watt Amp running off a 2000Watt PC power supply. I bought the sub because I thought I was going to buy a Camaro as my first car but, I got a Fiero and there is no room for a 15" sub that weight 80 pounds, so I hooked it up to my surround sound of course . It rattles every window in the house, and the smaller 10's provide a good punch too!

Nice! I have a pair of speaks with 15” woofers and big ass horns powered by my old reliable wood case Sansui. Currently not hooked up due to having the speakers too close to the TV did not turn out so well for the TV.

Never been a fan of an isolated midrange myself, I have always figured big base and high highs and the midrange comes in naturally.

You'll love this verbage...
Cerwin Vega used to sell systems with 2 15s per cabinet. Called it something like "the eviction notice system".

And yeah. I buy just about all my stuff at Parts Express, now. "Eye candy" indeed!

This, this is a cool thread.
So I tested the limits of the system the other day... and holy mother of god. The subs have about a 1.5in travel and we had the Christmas tree up still (lazy), which was upstairs. Well It was an easy way to de decorate the tree... luckily none of the expensive and nice ones broke. I put them away and took down the tree and got fun time from ally and she has no idea!
