Hey,
I am looking at investing in a plasma table for some projects I have going. I was interested to see if anyone has any experience with them - operations, quality of parts produced etc. The results probably vary greatly depending on the quality of unit and cutter. I have read that the only real downside to it is the bevel that occurs from the act of plasma cutting and that this becomes more apparent the greater the thickness of metal.

Opinions?

Ideally I would be getting a waterjet machine unfortunately I didn't win the lotto this week to afford the $100k price tag.

I was looking into buying the plasmacam but at 10K I was just a tad short on cash, about 10K.

The system itself is fairly simple, stepper motors I think controlled by the computer, you supply the computer.

You are going to get that slight angle in the cut with any plasma cutter and you can allow for it when you set up your torch. If you have never run a plasma torch before it will take you a little while to figure out the right settings as there is only so much that the computer controls.

As antuzi said they are fairly easy to make, the table and such so if you want to save a few bucks order a unit you have to assemble as their setup and everything is like another 5K if I remember right. Prices may have gone up I’m sure since I was looking at it like 5+ maybe.

Good luck

Keep us posted

Steve
