I bought it and walked around in it for a bit, but I haven't really played it. I was a little angry at how they "cheated" the graphics (that colorless greyslate same-texture everything), so I just put it on hold for awhile. I'm ready to start again, and my usual style of gameplay is heavily armored Warror, with a touch of thief-hired hitman-petty criminal. Then I just wonder around and take on whatever presents itself.
What is the best way/stratagy (enjoyable kills, best rewards, exciting steals, etc.) to play Skyrim?
I finally finished skyrim about two weeks ago.. Took me about a year.
If you want to be a warrior brawler, and jump in with swords swinging, level up your one hand attack and shield skills.. I also recommend you level up your archery skills as much as possible, being good with a bow in this game is essential, and will help you greatly throughout the different dungeons. I also recommend you get good at, at least some magic, as its very helpful.. Especially healing spells. At least a few desstruction spells help to, especially eairly on..
As for how to approach the game, its up to you.. When it comes too the elder scroll games i always do the first 3 or 4 story missions right away, just to get started, get some XP to level up a bit, and get some half way decent equipment, then i tend to just wander the game world and explore every cave, dungeon, castle i come across and clear it out.. Then when i want to progress, i hit up the next story mission.. There are so many side missions you can do, you can literally play for months and months without ever really touching the main quests.. Thats what i did, spent months just roaming around looting places and doing side missions.. Then eventually when i decided to finish up the story, i was so powerful by then i just burned right through those missions. The last few where tough though taking on all those dragons.. My character became the "Arch-Mage" at the wizard college, and i was a master archer as well.. And i was a Werewolf!, which was pretty cool. All decked out in dragon plate armor, my dude was badass, lol.
also i recommend you find Aranea Ienith, whom you can do a mission for, then she will travel with you.. Shes a wizard/summoner.. So she is very good with destruction magic, and she can summon monsters to fight along side you, very handy in large battles. As enemys will tend to focus on the monsters she summons before coming for you!.. Shes located at "the Shrine of Azura" which is located near the city of "Winter hold"..
Amazing game, and tons of fun, i hope you have a great time with it.. Its one of those games you can play everyday for a year and still never get bored or run out of things to do..

I'll give my opinion tonight when I have a computer to type on.
But I wanted to put in right now that there is a new DLC announced for Skyrim! We've had one already, pretty short... I'm hoping this one will be longer.
I think it depends on what kind of a challenge you want. My first playthrough, I was a High Elf with emphasis on conjuration and restoration. Conjuration has some VERY powerful spells, Summon Demora Lord was my go-to spell, and then I would conjure a sword in one hand with various spells in my other. There are litterally TONS of spells for all 4 branches of magic, it just depends on your play style. The draw backs with the style was very little defense, as robes give almost no defensive bonuses, but great magical bonuses. But with almost unlimited Mana, healing was easy.
I got tired of dieing so I made a new character. This time it was a Heavy Orc. Heavy armor and 2-handed axes. The difference was night and day. At level one, I was one-hit KO-ing nearly everything. Almost nothinh could touch me, and I regularly tanked lots of heavy enemies. Only problem was once my health did get low, it would take all my healing potions I had to get it back up, then next time I was low, I was out of potions. Big departure from my mage. Other drawbacks include small selection of unique 2-handed weapons especially axes. I wouldn't reccomend 2-handed weapons unless you just have to bash everything. There are much much much more one-handed weapons. This build also really decreased the challenge, as almost everyone goes down in one hit. I do really like the orc though, as you have access to orcish strongholds right out the gate.
As for quests, follow the main quest until the grey beards give you the "clear skies" shout. It makes things much easier.
I have heavily modified my game. You really need to download and install some of the modified textures. CBBE or UNP are the top two. If you don't like looking at nudes they both have underwear versions.
Armor and weapon mods Companions and races
If you really want to have some fun download the levelers tower and create a monster fighter and don't equip any weapon. The kill view is crazy, nothing like body slamming someone then stomping their face into the ground. UFO - Ultimate Follower Overhaul is a must have if you want more than one follower and want to enjoy your companions more.
I will come right out and tell you I cheat, I like to have fun and I will not spend 2 days working my smithing skills up to where I can make what I want. I have several scripts I ran at the start of a new game that setup my character with the skills I want to play with. I also like playing games surrounded by sexy people so I have modified everyone, it has its draw backs when you talk to an old woman and she has a hot body but its part of the game. Everyone looks good in Skyrim
You want to spend two weeks cutting wood and mining ore feel free. I just pretend I have a rich family

I played as a Nord. Made sense since it seemed to match the story. You're the mythical Nord dragonborn and all that (if I recall). I mainly did the heavy armor, dual axe thing, with maxed out sneakiness and good archery. I dabbled in magic, mainly healing and destruction. It was fun for me. The magic I found most useful besides healing was the dragon shouting, which you don't have to specialize in, really.
Oh, and I joined the rebellion because I agreed with the basic idea, but they turned out to be jerks, too. Turns out you're on the wrong side either way.

I have done both paths and they both suck, I tend to put that off as long as I can and do as many side quests that I can before doing the main quest line. There isn't a good option so just pick one and move on.

its amazing how much protection a g-string gives you.
And flossing becomes an Adult Disneyland! Your teeth aren't any cleaner, but your attitude points are at 100%! You can take a fist-full of sack-shots from a syphilitic Orc with nary a damagepoint!
Bring Tic-Tacs.

In every Elder Scrolls game preceding this, I was an elf or dark elf. This time, I chose khajit because for the first time, they looked amazing.
I played through the first time in my preferred way, by becoming a skilled sneaker and archer and killing people. I played through another time by becoming "powerful"... defined by basically swords and magic. I thought I'd have more fun when I did it the "powerful" way but really I didn't feel any thrill. As a sneaking archer, I knew I had to outsmart the AI (not too hard... at all... but still fun) and I enjoyed trying to get headshots. The thrill of not being caught while completely ransacking some place got my heart pumping! That is something the warrior/mage life couldn't do for me.
As far as how you progress in the game, don't do the main storyline right away. It will cheapen the sidequests. When I first played I completed pretty much all the important sidequests... becoming the leader of virtually every single organization and then proceeding to complete the main quests. This way I felt like I had to do all of those other things in order to complete the game. When I played through just the main quests with a few side quests, I lost the drive to complete all of the various side quests after I completed the main quest. I felt like I was already the leader and the biggest problem in the land was over.
I chose to be a werewolf early on because there were no vampires. I loved being a vampire in Oblivion as it added to my sneak and I could see bodies through walls, helping archery. When the new vampire DLC came out earlier this year I could have gone vampire but I decided not to this time. Being a khajit, I had night vision, so only the Detect Life would have helped me and I already had a spell for that. I decided to kill the vampires instead, which was fun. I might go back through again and be a vampire before the new DLC comes out to get used to playing again.
Here is the trailer for the new DLC released today, btw... have fun!

For gameplay, decide what type of character you want first and play to that. My first character was the archetype warrior. Fun. My second run through was with a mage / thief. High sneaking skills are FUN. Magic, like in most games is grossly underpowered at first and become very powerful at high levels.
As for followers, my favorite is Mjoll the Lioness. Give her 2 magic staffs and she can lay waste at range. Just be careful if the staff has an area affect because if you're fighting someone and she zaps them, you get caught in the blast.
Graphics wise, the first thing you need to do is get the HD Graphics patch. Free DLC from Steam. After that, you can customize the look of the game to make it amazing.

Cheating in it makes the game i bit easier and more fun. i know how to get $1000+ every 2 days and also how to reach level 82 with just an hour of BS.. look these cheats up on youtube.. just be ware some of them can mess your game up

I don't consider it a "cheat" if I can do it in game without any mods or console commands. I call those "exploits" as you're taking advantage of how the game is written. If I want to build up my armor and block skills, I just go pick a fight with a giant. Let him wail on me for a while and the skill points build up really fast. You have to be at least moderatly strong, though, to keep the giant from squashing you like a bug, but you can take your skills from 30-ish to 100 pretty quick that way. Start off at low levels by letting wolves attack you. Move up to people and giants as you get better armor and skills.
Easiest way to make money - alchemy. The money is literally laying on the ground. Now if you want to cheat that without cheating in game, there are apps you can download to give you all the alchemy recipes.

No kidding! You can't stand up long enough to do anything to them, hardly. I kept conjuring a Dremora Lord to have him and my follower attack them while I got bounced off the walls.
At a decision moment.. do I spend any more money to get any of the plug ins/additional content? I have done every major questline and every accomplishment available I finished up today by becoming master criminal and escaping from jail. (I chose to go to "The Chill" when I got caught.)
My character is now level 70, and hardly anything can damage me. I was able to level up my armor skills by just letting a guy attack me for like an hour.. just cast a healing spell now and then.. and that leveled up my restoration to boot.
I have all the dragonpriest masks, I am a thane in every hold available.
All I really have left is some small side quests I could complete, but the task of running around tryin to locate all the non repeating side quests sounds awful tedious.
Are the plug ins worth it? Input?

I am still playing but kind of at a standstill in motivation of where i'm at. Thinking about starting over with a new toon, now that I know how to play it just right and what I want out of it.

I think they all are. The Dragonborn one is especially a BLAST, though short. Building my own house from scratch was fun, along with adopting two children who won't stop picking flowers for me then asking for an allowance. Oh the joys of being a father! Kicking vampire ass was also a blast, but not as fun as Dragonborn IMO.
