I work car audio at ABC Warehouse. Generally, its a boring thankless job, but today was different! A lady came in today, one who Id put a radio inside her car (and speakers too apparently, but I forgot that) with a suprise for me. She'd brought an entire bag of pixie stix! I am a simple man with simple needs, and today that need was met! -Ben

I once snorted a couple lines of pixie dust... Don't remember why, but it seemed like I was sneezing half-chewed Twizzler's for a day or two.

As sweet as the candy is, the pixie stix were an award. For doing a great job for someone. Congratulations. Not many people are going to know because they weren't at the award presentation. But YOU will know.

Homie,
Congratulations, you were just rewarded by one of the few that show they actually do appreciate your efforts and skills. Currently I work in retail and only rarely do I see any appreciation for my efforts. Yeah, it's my job to sell but, I do not try to sell a customer something they are not asking for nor something they don't need. I've actually been "counseled" for telling a customer they didn't need that $300. part and that they should look at this or that first before they go forth on whatever. Interestingly, I've built up my own customer based that actually come in to see me and won't talk to some of the other folks when they need help. Once, I was actually stopped by a server at a lunch and told how much they appreciated my help, that was really appreciated and it just so happened that my boss was right beside me and it was said unknowingly in front of him. Had a lady come in just last night for information only, she didn't want to go home with a problem she couldn't describe to her husband and not have some sort of a correct fix for it. She didn't buy a thing and I didn't try to sell her anything but, I provided her with the information she needed to make a good decision. I like helping folks when I can and she was very appreciative, she will be back.

You done good Homie and someone showed their appreciation, remember it. More will come, not as often as deserved but, you and I are both providing a service the customer is paying for, a special thanks is never expected but, when it comes only inspires us to keep doing what we do as well as we can. I applaude you my friend. Thanks for sharing that story.

Pixie Stix - gotta love em. Back in the day if I couldnt get my hands on em Id take a packet of kool aide and mix it with a cup of sugar. Bootleg Pixie Stix, I know.... we always called it 'moon dust'.....makes us sound like little cokeheads.... X_x

Not a problem. I feel the same way about when it comes to peoples cars. Im not gonna sell them a buncha car audio stuff they dont need just for a nice check at the end of the week. Im here to help them - thats all. I get into spats with other salesman all the time for not 'upselling' or 'not getting the 5 year warranty'. But, thats not me. I dont like being hassled so Im not gonna do it to other people, ya know? Im just a different kinda person I guess....

It does feel good to be acknowledged. I have customers who come in once in a while and give me gift cards to local restaurants or whatever. Even a card on occasion to say they appreciate what I did for them. Yes, I do charge for what I do. I almost always go above and beyond for my clients and don't really expect anything for the extra measure, that just my way for trying to ensure my success. That once in a while someone notices does feel pretty good.
