Posted this on a friends facebook. He is always talkign about how much he hates pop culture, and is constantly showign me weird **** like this, so i though he'd enjoy it. He got extremely offended about the shrimp part, deleted and blocked me... not upset, it makes me laugh actually.

The word zef stems from an Afrikaans word, which roughly translates to the English word common. Jack Parow, in an interview, describes the movement as "kind of like posh, but the opposite of posh."[1] It differs from the Australian term bogan, and the British term chav in that it is mostly a positive term for oneself, rather than a derogatory term for someone else. It is also not typical of the poorest classes of the society, but rather a mostly white, lower-middle class subculture, albeit one that glorifies cheap stuff.
Yolandi Visser of Die Antwoord is quoted as saying, "It's associated with people who soup their cars up and rock gold and **** . Zef is, you're poor but you're fancy. You're poor but you're sexy, you've got style."[2][3][4]
The word "zef" is a contraction of the name of the Ford Zephyr motorcar that was popular worldwide from the 1950s to the 1970s. In South Africa, these cars were often owned by working-class people, especially from the then-upcoming East and West Rand areas of Johannesburg (due to gold mining activity and the rising price of gold after it was de-coupled from a fixed US Dollar price of USD30 per fine ounce). The average Zephyr driver, while relatively comfortable financially in the 70s, was still generally from a more working-class than elite or highly educated background, so owners of these cars were given the derogatory description of being "zef" (Zephyr owner) by middle-class and more well-to-do South Africans.

Thats a pretty wild group for sure.. They got a good sound though.. Im still trying to decide if i think Yolandi Visser is hot though.. Sometimes she looks really hot (like in this FHM pic) and sometimes she just looks downright wierd..

these people either have a serious mental problem or they are faking it to be the "new hot thing" kinda like pulling a marilyn manson. its a catchy song thats for sure as well as their other stuff. i almost feel a little mental myself for liking it :P

Honestly, I'm starting to think MOST people are effing crazy, especially those who live "normal" lives. They just go through the motions of living anyway...
I like these two a lot more then Gaga. But they are a bit nuts. I like marylin manson a lot- not his music as much as his mindset. Yeah, he's freaky looking and made up a profitable persona, but some of the youtube clips I've seen of him on talkshows and during interviews were pretty darn good. His eyes are open, even if the kids don't comprehend things past the makeup or metaphor...
This is awesome. Seriously probably my new favorite hip-hop(?) group. I'm not sure what genre they are in the U.S.

I don't think they're faking it. They seem to be making fun of Gaga for faking it, but these guys seem legitimately kinda crazy. I love it.

I have a theory, that all of us have it in us to be clinically insane. We just keep the door closed.
I used to hear voices in high school. It wasn't anything specific and they didn't tell me to do anything, my mind just felt "crowded". There was a lot of noise and I couldn't think straight sometimes because it was so "loud" in my head. I learned how to shut them out and haven't heard them in years. I don't think that's normal but I think everyone has the capability.
My ears are still ringing from earlier.
