This article has some amazing quotes in it. It's one thing to differ on how you think legislation should be written, but the sheer ignorance of the "smart kids" who are trying to protect society from itself with their superior wisdom and they don't even know what it is they're regulating.
quote
In 1993, a United States senator with one of the great political brains of 20th-century America, Daniel Patrick Moynihan, said that we ought to forget gun control as a way to stanch criminal violence. It was hopeless, Senator Moynihan pointed out: even if the sale of new guns was totally forbidden, there were already enough guns in homes and private hands to last the country for 200 years.
“These mostly simple machines last forever,” Mr. Moynihan said.
But he wasn’t through.
“On the other hand, we have only a three-year supply of ammunition.”
His solution: Increase the tax on bullets. He wouldn’t raise the tax on ammunition typically used for target shooting or hunting. But he proposed exorbitant taxes on hollow-tipped bullets designed to penetrate armor and cause devastating damage.
“Ten thousand percent,” Mr. Moynihan said.
Wow. Really? Hollow points are armor piercing? That's almost as good as the barrel shroud ban.
Chris Rock, another brilliant political expert added,
quote
Another sharp political mind, the comedian Chris Rock, argued that the price of bullets ought to be even higher than what the senator had suggested.
“If a bullet costs $5,000, there’d be no more innocent bystanders,”
Oh, and here's the barrel shroud clip if you haven't seen it yet.
"It's the shoulder thing that goes up..."
This is almost as brilliant as Ted Stevens regulating the intertubes.
And then there's this commercial calling for a Ban On "Assault Clips"
Wow, the rare nuclear warhead assault Glock.
The stupid. It burns.

( Cant see the videos so i apologize ahead of time ) But this is exactly the warning Ted Kennedy gave us a long time ago. " cant take their rights away, but i can make it too expensive for them to exercise them "
And remember, the court has now paved the way for taxing ANYTHING at ANY level.. for ANY reason...

They can outlaw and regulate and tax bullets all they want. However, that is nothing to the criminal, they will still get whatever they want as far as weapons go, they don't follow the law now, why would they in the future? It only makes it harder to defend ourselves from the criminals.

Its not about restricting the criminal.

ive seen the show where chris rock said that and it was clearly a joke as he said that gang bangers would be more accurate or kill people they really wanted dead for $5000 a bullet. also i dont care for hollow points to inaccruate i prefer FMJ
*tightly snugs tinfoil hat*^This... Soooo much of this. And it's not 1 big movement, it's a million microscopic movements.
its not even tinfoil hat territory. By definition its not about restricting criminals when the 'elected officials' publicly state they don't feel we have the right.

Why would 5k a bullet make a difference? Its not like its THEIR money.

You may want to reconsider that statement about hollow point bullets being inaccurate since match ammo for both 223/5.56 and 308/7.62 is hollow point and not FMJ.

ya your right i was excluding rifle rounds because even if they are hollow point they still pierce armor but ive found that HP .45 or 9mm ammo isnt as good as FMJ.
(Looks carefully over both shoulders, whispers) When I bought the last shotgun, I made sure I got a box of Number 8 heat seeking bullets for it. Don't come crying to me when you can't buy them anymore.

Taxing ammo just means one more thing to Black Market...

i dread a price hike in ammo for my FN ps90 those fricking rounds cost 50 cents a pop! even on cheaper than dirt they are only like 47 cents but still damn! i dunno why they are so expensive. my 223 only costs 25 to 35 cents a round.
