I was going through my old computer stuff and stumbled upon my old Atari 520ST. It has a very low serial number and was wondering if the fact it has such a low serial number increases its value (if it has any value at all)?

The serial number is 00000116.

I remember it had been been "upgraded" to 1024KB memory.

Then its not 'special' you would want it pristine to be of extra value. Most likely some of hte chips were cut out, thats how i did mine when i bumped it to 2 mb.( when i bumped my 1040 up to 4mb, i didnt cut them out completely, instead i just 'disable cut' them. )

There were at least 3 different version of the 520, some with internal floppy, some with a modulated video out, some with both...

Now you had a falcon, that's worth some cash.. Or a STBook..

I was ( still am ) an atari fan.

The 520 STs don't really have a lot of value... at that time, I think it was under the ownership of Jack Trammel (or Sam?) and stuff was less important then. Even the 1040STs aren't worth that much. The Mega-4 and some of the later ones have a bit more value because of the scope of applications that they can run... which is everything the 520 can run, plus everything the 1040 and Mega-4. Plus, it can run the full TOS operating system.

The low serial number thing is really only a big deal for some of the older stuff, like the Atari 2600 (stuff actually made in Sunnyvale California)... the early Atari stuff when it was all still under Nolan Bushnell.

But... definitely check out AtariAge. I'm on there... lot of good support.

I've got a lot of old computer stuff from the '80s and '90s. Too bad I'm also missing a lot of stuff like my Atari 2600, Atari 400, Atari XL and Apple II. I had lend them to people and never got them back. Unfortunately I'm no longer in contact with those people and have no clue where they live.

But I've got a lot of other "vintage" stuff like Targa boards, Alice boards, some Atari 2600 stuff (like the trackball and drawing tablet) and my Atari 520 ST.
