I work with a guy (well, he's in Afghanistan right now) that passed a trooper on his gixxer with the thing bouncing of the limiter. Didn't see blue lights, so he didn't stop.
I'd imagine passing a bear at 186 would make you pucker until ya put a hole in the seat.

ROSENDALE, N.Y. – Authorities say a 28-year-old man in upstate New York has been charged with driving his motorcycle at nearly 200 mph on a highway in the rain.
State police say a trooper clocked Anthony Anderson of Poughkeepsie driving at 193 mph around 8 p.m. Wednesday in the southbound lanes of Interstate 87 just south of Albany -- the same stretch of road where another motorcyclist was spotted doing 166 mph earlier this month.
The trooper was able to get a description of the high-performance bike and alerted nearby patrols.
Troopers eventually stopped Anderson in the town of Rosendale. He told them he was headed to a hospital to visit a patient.
Anderson was issued 14 traffic tickets, including one for speeding.
It couldn't be immediately determined if he had a lawyer.
Since nobody is reading the story apparently.
Brad, already read it once, I still think he's an idiot.

Man, I wonder what kind of motorcycle this guy was on.
Brad
Honestly I don't know what it was but, there are several "sport bikes" out there that can travel in that range. I ride a cruiser, I have no desire to go that fast on public roads. All it takes at those speeds is, well hell, anything. Riding like that on a public road is just plain stupid. I really don't care if he goes out and kills himself but, what about the other folks on that road, I'm think'n they aren't ready for his departure when it might take them with him.

Below is a pic of my old one. It was factory limited to 186mph, but with a few mods, 200+mph was possible. I only had it for about a year, did 150mph on it the day this pic was taken, and it got there FAST. It was surprisingly smooth at that speed too. Best tank I got on it was 57mpg too. Pretty incredible machine.

The other guy mentioned in the story who was caught doing 166 mph stopped because he was running low on gas. I'll bet doing 193 for 50 miles drains the small motorcycle tank pretty fast.
Darwin will collect on most of these morons. You know, riding a bike has it's own inherit added dangers, typically, cagers aren't looking for them, they are a smaller profile, they have less mass and obviously don't do well in a collision with a larger vehicle which is most likely what they will impact with even when it's not their own fault. I'm not counting the other opportunites when a biker crashes all on his/her own. But, when you add a speed demon factor in, well you get a Darwin Award Candidate.
What really pisses me off is, they give all bikers a bad name and they put everyone else on the road in danger. This goes for four wheels as well as two. I see folks driving and riding like they are in the Indy 500, cutting folks off, passing in very close circumstances, tail gating and acting like they own the frick'n road. I frequently get tail gated when I'm riding even when I'm running at or slightly above the posted speed limit. I get cut off all the time. I guess some folks don't care if they live or die. Frankly, I don't care if they don't, I just don't want to be the instrument of their demise or get killed because they wanted to have a little fun. All I can say is, if you want to go that fast, take it to a track. Cause I'm not going to feel sympathy when they are pulling your bike out of the guard rail and scraping your remains off the asphalt.

I'm not going to defend recklessness, but I confess I was impressed when everyone was doing 80 in a 70 mile zone and a guy passed me on the right like I was standing still and he was doing it on his rear wheel. I know I shouldn't have been impressed, but I was.

I've said it before and it certainly applies here.
