Was going to weld the axle locked later but now i'm looking at the diagram and wondering how the hell am I going to pull this off? Some more info it's off a 1969 sears suburban 12, 8 speed 1-2-3-R high and low range. Model #91725520

^ Absolutely have to, people keep saying weld the spider gears together but I don't see spider gears in the diagram.

Me too. There are no spider gears visible in that diagram. Every spider gear set I ever saw had beveled or angle cut gears to interact with the side gear--I don't see that happening in your diagram, but it is a pretty fuzzy drawing.
And, it could be because of the crappy diagram, we just don't see all of it. This, is also what initially appears to be a palnet/sun arraingement, but it is a very basic spider setup from an antique tractor.



The spider gears and ring gear/carrier/bull gear are clearly visible in the photo. To be a three-member planetary gear system, it would have to have a sun gear and a planetary gear as well as an outer ring gear rotating in the same plane.
