Ok so I have a Draco AK pistol - Love it! It seems to be the party favorite when we shoot with friends. Load the 75 round drum and go to town. So I decided to get an AK rifle. The first one I got is a Yugo M70. Full wood stock. Shoots great but because the stock on it comes straight out instead of at a slight angle, the cheek weld on it is weird and it hurts your cheek after you fire it a few times. Great shooting gun, very accurate for an AK and has a beutifull wood stock but is a little uncomfortable to shoot. I don't want to change the stock on it so its going to be a safe queen.
So I'm looking at another AK for a shooter. I'm currently looking at this model here:
Had one on B/O and its finally here. Going to look at it on Thursday. Nice milled receiver and totally made in the good 'ol US of A. Funny being an AK... I've read good things about this model. Like the rails on it as well. Only thing it does not have is a chrome lined barrel which to me is a mute point as I don't shoot corrosive ammo and clean my guns after use...
So before I pick up the C-39 Sportster I'm looking for opinions on other AK's that you guys and gals may have and liked.
The Yugo M70

I looked at those but unfortunatly, I'm a left handed shooter and they come with right handed thumb holes...
It is most likely possible to change the stocks. Veprs are very high quality. If not a Saiga would be the next version I looked at. Either get a Arsenal or convert yourself.
I have a Saiga 12 Guage and love it but thier AK's dont take standard AK mags, which I have more than a few of. Guess it would be good if the AK took standard AK doublestack mags...
I looked into the Arsenal's but a milled receiver Arsenal will hit you over a grand...Maybe some day...

The converted ones do take standard mags. Converting the Saiga isn't very expensive, and allows you to set it up how you want the rifle. Arsenals take them out of the box. "The components and features on the new SGL21 rifle resemble true Russian AK rifle, including the safety lever with correct shape and properly positioned dimple, the correct trigger guard with magazine catch and the correct bullet guide enabling SGL21 to accept any standard AK magazine," http://www.arsenalinc.com/usa/downloads/SGL21.pdf

Thanks for your advice. I looked at some reviews of the C-39 and they look good. I'm going to get it and put an Arsenal with a milled receiver on my christmas wish list.

Well, just got back from the range. This AK is the best shooting, most comfortable AK I've shot to date. Ran over 250 rounds through it without a single issue. Folks at the range got a kick out of the American flag on the receiver... LOL A made in the USA AK-47. Now thats too cool...
The milled receiver is sweet, and the action on this AK is tight. It has a Tapco trigger which has about a 4 pound pull. Very smooth and a crisp release.
Have to say - I would recommend this AK to anyone looking for a good shooter. Was literally ripping 6"plates off the wires at 225 yards with open sights! Range master had to get the ATV out twice to put the plates back up…LOL It was a blast.
