I added some real sugar to my Diet Mt. Dew and it had a funny reaction.... put the sugar in there and within 5 seconds it began to foam out uncontrollably... luckily enough it died down and everything was alright....

Nope. The same thing would have happened if he had used table salt instead of sugar, just as the same thing happens if you put granulated sugar in a regular carbonated drink. The sugar (or salt) crystals provide nucleation sites for carbon dioxide bubbles to form. In fact, the same thing is likely to happen ... and for the same reason ... if you pour some rice into a clean pan of water that's just on the threshold of boiling. Most chemistry students have also seen something similar (i.e. "bumping") happen in the lab at least once.
Edit: One source I consulted states that Aspartame in diet soda lowers the surface tension of the water, so the geyser effect is likely to be greater in them than in sugar-sweetened sodas.

In most stores here in California you can actually go to the Hispanic food isle and buy "Mexican" Coke! It is Coke made in Mexico and imported here. Unlike American Coke, which used corn syrup, Mexican Coke uses the original Coke formula with real sugar. You can really taste the difference

Yea last summer Pepsi released a retro Mt Dew can made with real cane sugar instead of corn syrup. Bought one. You can definatly tell the difference. Funny thing was I had forgot what it taste like but it was like hearing an old song from your childhood. Took me right back to summer canoe trips late 70s with parents drinking beer and not really paying attention to us kids downing a case of Mt Dew. Good but man was it sweet.

I got that throwback thinking it would be good. It wasn't sweet enough, I guess my tounge likes corn syrup. The Dr pepper throwback was decent, but still not great. IMO

Minus the cocane I hope. Or have the Cartels found another way to smuggle drugs into the US?
Being Easter time, several grocery stores in the area offer Kosher Coke made with real sugar. Very tasty. Also some authenetic Mexican restaurants offer the Mexican Coke here. You definatley can taste the difference.

Even sand would do it

Same in hear in Seatle at a "Multicultural"? store downtown. And the taste is that of the same that I grew up with, right out of the same kind of glass bottle when a bottle of Coke was a bottle of Coke. It is *v*e*r*y* good.

You know... I've noticed that when I have the opportunity to go to other countries, the products we use here in the US taste TOTALLY different to the products they use... like... Mc.Donalds for example. Mc.D's in Thailand tastes TOTALLY different than it does here... and it tastes REALLY good... and healthier (or maybe... not as bad).
Coke definitely tastes better there...

Why yes, yes they do. The Chinese women love juices contain ricinitopan, a rarely seen enzyme that boosts energy, stimulates the growth of white blood cells, supports vitamin c absorption and elevates the sex drive to heretofore undreamed of levels. An easy explanation as to why there are so damn may folks in Chine!
Do stay away from the hot dogs though!
