Just friggin GRRRRRRR I knew everything was going along too well.
Just took measurements of my pool table and cues this morning.. I will need at least a 13 foot wide room, not to hit the walls with the cues. So I trot my happy little butt over to the house. Measure the room over the garage.. 11'7 So I measured the living room.. 12'3 GRRR Only two rooms it will fit are the great room.. Not going to happen.. And the garage. However, I have a garage FULL of tools to put in there, plus a car. I can't believe my rotten luck. So I have my grandfather's gorgeous Olhausen Pool table and not sure what to do with it now.
I could MAYBE put it in the garage and work the tools around it.. But I plan it to be a working garage.. Sawdust and all... Dammit....

I considered that... If I use a 42" cue instead of my 59" cues... It would fit in just about anywhere... But what is the fun of playing shorties all the time?

Had a smiliar problem for a room with our pool table when we moved into our new home where we currently lived. Had a really nice pool table, solid as a rock, heavy as a boulder. Really, a great table. Used to play on it frequently. All my kids would have their friends over and play pool. But, there was no room here for the table. So, tried to sell it, tried Ebay, Craig's List, phoned in to the local radio show and priced it really cheap, even put it in the local paper. Ended up giving it to the first guy that would haul it off. Wasn't happy about it but, there simply wasn't room for it then. Now, the kids are grown and moved out, I've got plenty of room. Life is like that sometimes.

I am not too far away and have the perfect space that is both air conditioned and heated. It is quite large and has plenty of room for full size sticks. If you want to donate it I will find a way to get it back to my house in SC.
My wife and I went back to the house.. We laid tape down in the size of the table in several locations...
Finally we decided it WILL go upstairs over my garage.. Here is the tape ont he floor showing size and approximate position...
We took one of my cues, taped it off at 42 inches (a shorty) and pretended that was the tip.. We walked around the "table" and tried various positions and shot motions.. It will be cramped... But it will work. At least until I can expand the garage in a couple years.
Soooo...I guess everyone will be "encouraged" to let you win, huh?
If they know what's good for them Actually, my most regular visitors.. My Pops and his his ole Lady... Will mop the friggin floor with me!! He taught me almost everything I know.. And has 22 years on me And she can kick his butt!
Originally posted by 8Ball: The upper right corner is my gun safe The desk will be beside it. There is a full sized door on the back wall of the office, that leads outside. The pool table will come in that door.
Thinking out loud here ... Back in the waterbed craze days, people with pier and beam houses, and those with mobile homes, had to shore up the flooring under the waterbeds due to weight. What does that pool table weigh and what kind of construction is the office floor/garage ceiling ? Two by sixes ? 16" on center ?
Looks like it will work out temporarily for you. I bought a new big screen TV back in the day of CRTs. To get it in the house, i had to pull out the whole glass sliding patio door frame and all. At least didnt have to worry about it being stolen....

Just put it in the master bedroom! Throw a Memory Foam mattress on it when it's not in use and you're good to go!
And how are you going to get a pool table through that door?
The top of most pool tables are actually three pieces of slate with wax in the seams, setting on a base that's bolted together. The sides, and feet all come off.
It'll fit through about any door you want.

You do know you can do a temporary addition on the house right? Put the table in the room you want then a wood floor so that down the road you can rip up the wood and pour concrete later. It isn’t all that expensive you already have the outside wall just move it a few ft. to allow for the room you needed then add the roof and walls. Not that expensive and I am sure if you offer a place to sleep for a few members with the knowledge we could do it for you. Hell throws in a keg of beer for when they are done and I will drive down and help. Free of charge.
The tought of the floor supporting the table has come up. The garage ceiling is sheetrocked and the office floor carpeted. So I am not real sure. I will likely have to get someone to check it out first.
The wife would never let me build a temporary room. But she is all for a garage addition!!
I just called the place it was bought. The table weighs 750 pounds. So no issue there.
