Screams entrapment since cops have a tendency to tailgate people and most don't like bumper warts.

But some people will say "this is totally their right as revenue enforcement officers of the peace..." Meh.

Definitely sneaky but nothing new, I saw one pull someone over about 3-4 years ago. The good thing is that yellow cabs stick to being closer to the city- so I can terrorize the highways without fear

NYPD is a joke for highway patrol even with their unmarked cars, its the state troopers that get you out in the burbs/ upstate.

They didn't have this when I drove a cab in New Orleans, but they did have Cops riding in cabs and calling to other cars. They also had a crew of people that asked Cabs for illegal things (hooker, crack, run without the meter etc.) to get them in trouble.

In our little town, we have a Police car with a 1/2-1/2 paint scheme. The front 1/2 and top is regular B&W cruiser. The back 1/2 is painted out and decaled exactly like a yellow cab. It even says "Yellow Cab" on the trunk, but Cleveland Police on the front fenders.. Dumbest looking thing I ever saw, but I see people go passing it up and get pulled over all the time thinking it's just a slow cab. (we don't HAVE a cab service here--you'd think everyone would know by now). For a little bitty town, this place sure has a lot of idiots.

For a while now the locals will use impounded street racer cars right before they go for auction. :/

The agency whose radios I used to fix, over 20 years ago, had one of those.
We pictured it going and sitting in front of some "wanted person's" house, late at night, and blowing the horn.
The "person" would come out yelling, "I didn't call no #$!$!@# cab!"
Busted!

Missouri Highway Patrol has been using unmarked pickups and SUV's. They used to have a bunch of Mustangs, but I haven't seen one in a long time. Illinois uses Tahoes that are unmarked, but unmistakably police issue.

Imagine this without the stripe.

I have totally seen that cop! He pulled someone over near my house. I can't imagine that it is the same guy?

Our state troopers have a few unmarked Mustangs that they patrol the highway with. Tinted windows, dealer stickers & standard license plates.
I guess they weren't making enough revenue with their unmarked Crown Vic's. that were easier to spot.

Around here, and I have seen them elsewhere, are "ghost markings". I suppose it is to avoid the ruling that unmarked police cars or hidden police cars violate enforcement standards.

This creates a dilemma ... to tip or not to tip? If so, how much?
