I am helping a friend of mine start up a website / e-store for her project business: Stitchpunk Dolls

www.StitchPunkDolls.com

The idea is that they are emotionally representative and inspired by Tim Burton and/or Steampunk themes.

Wanted to get your input on the fun little dolls, and the website layout overall.

Thanks for the space!

Really, nice job on the site. No annoying flash, easy to use, and it's interesting.

I also like the dolls, they are interesting. Unfortunately the one I would get for Rachel is 59.00 (probably why it's that much.)

The only issue I see (and it's really really minor) is that the "cart is empty" field is over too far to the left. It seems it should say something witty such as "The cart feels empty" or "The cart is empty inside" "The cart is lonely" etc. But hey. lol

Really,

Brad

It might just be my browser (firefox), but the quote at the top has a grey bar behind it and it looks like it shouldn't. But overall it looks awesome!

Yea, I'm going to see if I can get rid of the gray box, I think it would look better without it.

A few thoughts.

Outstanding idea/concept. Good variety and cohesiveness. It is tough to see scale but they seem to be pretty large.

If your friend is considering nationwide distribution, she should consider comic book distirbutors and movie/bookstore distirubtors.

Google diamond distributors, comics/enemi, etc. She should also consider picking her local comic/gaming/fantasy convention and buying a vendor's table. Start with a smaller show so it's cheap and guage the interest.

I saw she has a facebook page, which is good. The product and website look well designed.

If there is a negative, for me it is the price. I think 25 might be a bit too steep (maybe have some "stitch-minis" or something at an entry level price.

Overall very cool. I'd suggest coming up with a logo and putting TM next to stitchpunk. If she can afford it, she should consider registering the trademark, but TM will protect her as well for now.

Good luck!

Minis would be cool, also maybe have more 'different' ones like the 'dog' one.

Do they have backstories?

I love it! I can't think of anyone I could buy this for (My sister wouldn't like it), but I'll keep you in mind. It is really cool. They are super neat. I love them! Price is steep but they have to be--I assume these are hand stitched? Anyways, good luck!

Now that the website is up and fully operational all that is missing is the back stories and more options. They will all come with a little parchment that tells you their story, and it will be on the website.

Yes, each doll is hand stitched and of course made one at a time. Eventually there will be several of each one for sale, but right now if someone purchased one it would be taken off the website until a new doll was made.

You should tell her about a game called Bio shock. She could pick up some great ideas.

The steampunk influence seems to come and go, depends on which dolls are available at any given time. Here is one that has gears built into it, kind of steampunk-ish:
