My father just bough a silver 2008 Cadillac CTS 4, VERY nice car. I'm having trouble getting it to pair with his iPhone.

According to the instructions in the manual,

quote
Hold handsfree button on steering wheel, car beeps, say "handsfree", car says "ready, say "bluetooth", car says "bluetooth ready", say "pair" (have your phone ready to search for handsfree devices at this point) Follow the voice prompts and enter the PIN the car tells you to enter into your phone.

BUT when you say handsfree, it repeats the 'handsfree' command, and immediately goes into the Onstar calling function. If you say 'bluetooth' at this point, it doesn't work.

Anyone have one or a similar GM vehicle, and has had this problem?

Here's how it's SUPPOSED to work.

Well figured it out.The car was built too early in the model year to have it. Only CTS's built towards the end of the 2008 model year had Bluetooth.

GM TSB # 08-08-46-001A

RPO code UPF, Wireless Interface Short Range, Voice Rec (Bluetooth Hands-Free Technology)

Checked the car's RPO sheet, and it didn't have UPF. Oh well, he didn't seem too disappointed. Wonder if it could be added somehow...

[EDIT]
Nevermind, sounds like you "fixed" it.

[EDIT #2]
As far as adding it, maybe this would work: There was a bulletin (sorry, don't have a copy of it) released to GM dealers a week or two ago about a kit to retrofit bluetooth on a number of GM vehicles, I'd imagine the CTS is included. May want to call up a local dealer and inquire about it.
