The wife and I went to range this morning, and there was a guy there with a Ruger 454 Alaskan. OMG! I about wet my pants when he shot that thing. I wasn't paying attention to what he was shooting, and it caught me off gaurd. I thought the Iowa was at the range shooting her guns. I could actually feel the shock wave of the gun in the next lane. The guy let me shoot it, and I must say it was right up there in Wow factor. It literally would take down a moose. Probably why it's called The Alaskan. The range had one for $650, and I want one! Wow, just wow!

That thing is so STUBBY, its amazing. I'm used to looking at the Casull with that 454 foot barrell on it. (a.k.a. the Thompson/Burroughs!) I swear guns made those guys write better. Drugs helped, too.

And expensive to shoot. When I say a bullet only costs a quarter that is not the caliber I am talking about. Really expensive ammo.
Nice one though. I had a Rugar 44 with a nine inch barrel. It was like firing a rocket launcher with one hand.

I wish I could find decent .45 ammo for only a quarter a round. My defense loads are closer to $1 each. Practice ammo, probably around $.40? I need to get some reloading gear.
Formula, You can pick up quality .45 (I'm assuming .45 Colt here) loads from Georgia Arms for way less than you can buy them on the shelf somewhere. They have several different choices, the last time I picked some up it was at a gun show. I paid somewhere around $25/50 rounds. That was new Winchester brass and Speer jacketed hollow points, I forget how they were loaded but it was somewhere between 900-1000 fps. Hope that helps!

.45ACP, actually.
Doing a search on http://ammoseek.com I can find .45ACP for as low as $0.25 a round, but that's steel cased, TulAmmo Russian ammo. The cheapest I could find from Georgia Arms was 1000 rounds bulk ammo for $330.00 For about that price, I can get Winchester White Box at Walmart. Less if you include shipping.
