Yea and he got her for a song too. Her new owner will be coming tomorrow to take her home to South Carolina. I had to sell her, I need the money so I can continue my search for a job and relocate to said job. There is nothing here currently. *sigh*
I hate to say this, but I feel like I am losing an old friend. That car was the most amazing, powerful, fast little ***** of a car, that I have EVER had. Sure it broke down... a LOT!! But I almost had all of that worked out... I think.. Either way, it just made the times I got to drive her that much more fun! It was not the fastest car on the road. But it was a HECK of a lot faster than ANYONE ever suspected it to be. (insert sly grin here) I have spanked some seriously HIGH end sports cars with it. More Mustangs than I could count, and just about any stock vette, other than a Z06. A couple Ferrari's, BOTH of my clients Maserati's (re-insert sly grin) Yea they hated my car for that one.... And of coarse, the ability to break traction at any time, any gear and any speed I so choose was nice as well. This was not a car for someone not familiar with high horsepower RWD cars.
It may have only been 350 at the Rear wheels, but in this tiny wheelbase and light frame, it may as well have been 700. And the Supercharger gives you ALL that power at once, on demand. It can be just as touchy to get initial traction. But then, who doesn't love a good smokey burnout before you take off? Solution? Slap some Falken's on there. The burnout helps them warm up and get sticky! They suck cold. Not so good on tread life though!
Been out in the garage for 2 days now putting her mostly back together. I am worn the heck out! Then I have to start repairs on the Charger once she is gone.
Damn I am gonna miss the ole girl.

That is a real bummer. If it is any consolation, it would have been difficult or impossible to get it past the smog ref here in California. This is probably the the best.
Once you get here, the engine swap possibilities are more limited but it is not impossible to have a car similar to what you had. You just won't be able to take any short cuts like people can in the rest of the country.
I wish you luck on the move and I hope it works out for you.
Yea I have several "interviews" in progress. Of those only 3 have any real prospect and only one of those, California, am I remotely interested in. The other two are more just stops in the road to put some funds back in the bank..
Unfortunately, with ALL of these long distance interviews, they take time to happen. But yea, I am really hoping the Cali thing works out too. Either that or a local one I interviewed for a month ago. They are having permit issues I think.
As for the car... Her new owner is no stranger to high horse power cars. He is 42, his first car was a Hemi Cuda. Since then he has had 3 of them, a deuce coupe and he has a 400 hp 79 Vette. I made him promise that she would NOT get parted out... She is worth a LOT more parted out. But her historical value, to the miata community, in my eyes is too much for that to happen. She is a very famous little car in the miata circles. Has been a legend for 6 or 7 years. He told me that she would likely be a lifetime car, but if he sells her, I get first dibs.
But he seems like he will be a good owner for her.
The Day she came home... On the way home I spanked a BMW Z4 M Series Fastback... With no Nitrous, Non working Methanol pump and an exhaust leak. Beat him baaaad too His wife thought it was endlessly amusing.
The motor was a mess.. overspray and melted harnesses everywhere...
So I started there and did a little clean up on the over spray..
Then the ignition blew yet another Coil... 4th in as many weeks.. I HATE MSD garbage. So I did a ton of reseach and made a custom wiring harness and installed Toyota Coil on Plugs from an 05 Matrix. While doing that I removed all the old unused harness bits, rewired and shortened everything else, then cleaned it up more...
This was the result..
All nice and shiny!!! This is what I took out...
And This is how she sounds, going from 20-100 thru the mountains...

Being a solstice owner and you a miata owner were genetically programed to hate eachother car... but that being said it is sad to lose a car you put so much into. i almost cried when i sold my firebird
