Didn't you mean "slip ring." A swashplate (a.k.a. "wobble plate") is a mechanism used to convert rotary motion to reciprocating motion ... an in the GM DA-6/HR-6 air conditioning compressors. The alternator is just one place on the Fiero where slip rings are used.
