Update: I'm not sure what to think. Now they are saying he didn't have a heart attack but he has an infection around his heart and some blockage. He went into surgery around 9:00 this morning and I haven't heard anything more. This really sucks living so far away from them
Doug
PS Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers

If you believe in prayer distance does not matter. Your energy will reach him. You can send him that energy without knowing full details of his condition.

Gosh, sometimes thinking is not such a good thing. Faith, at least in the doctors, is probably the best thing. I really feel for you being so far away, . Can't you call the hospital and get an update ? I know patient info is confidential but hospital staff is good at figuring out who is entitled to know. My best your way.
Blockage in his neck artery perhaps? My father had the same thing in his early 80s, they opened the artery, cleaned it out "manually", stitched it back up, and did a X3 bypass at the same time in his chest. He sailed right thru with no problems. It is considered pretty much a routine surgery anymore, tho certanly scary at the time. Best of luck, prayers and good vibes to you and your family.
Kinda strange that Doug. I composed a post for you yesterday, submitted it...and it isn't there So I will just repeat what I wrote yesterday. I am sorry to hear that your Father is so ill, and sincerely hope he will recover. 81 is a pretty good score, and at that age, we can only wish for a complete recovery, or a gentle and painfree passing. Sadly, the latter won't prevent you and your family hurting, and so my hopes, wishes and prayers are redoubled for that reason. Take care, and the Hospitals here and in the UK will readily supply as much information as they can, if you can email them, or fax them some form of evidence that you ARE close family/relative. See if they will do the same for you. God Bless, and best wishes Nick and Ellie
My dad is doing much better and was released last night. He had a stint put in and he is on medicine for the infection around his heart. Thank you all for the prayers and words of encouragement. It means a lot to me!
Doing heart surgery nowadays is routine in most cases. We have a few members of the cracked chest club here on the forum, myself included. Quadruple bypass a couple of years ago.
