Interesting. What kind is it ? It would seem to me that being manufactured during World War Two, that it might have some umm circumstantial value as manufacturing then was in support of the war effort. Pics/details ?
A few models are in high demand, but there are generally, more of those old Singer type machines floating around than one might think. Back then, virtually every household with a female member had one. Tho 70 years may seem like a long time ago, they were built to last a lifetime, were handed down to the next generation, and thus are still very numerous. Each of my sisters has one of about the same vintage, and I turned one down from an old aunt of mine a few years ago myself.
Often, if it's in a cabinet, the cabinet (if in good shape) is worth more than the machine. I do see them in franchised businesses like Crackerbarrel Restraunts, where the decor is mostly old pictures, implements, signs, advertisements, and household or farm items. Good luck with it.

yeah its a SINGER and it is a table that folds open to also be a sewing machine. The table part has obviously been abused over the years with normal wear but the actual machinery is intact and perfect.
If I go over his house later I will take a pic

That is beautiful Larry. I have one like it, not near as nice as it survived my home fire and is smoke damaged. What's it worth ? I'd say $400.00.
