Probably not worth a whole lot based on what I have heard about "antiques". It would have to be rare.

Interesting. What kind is it ? It would seem to me that being manufactured during World War Two, that it might have some umm circumstantial value as manufacturing then was in support of the war effort.
Pics/details ?

A few models are in high demand, but there are generally, more of those old Singer type machines floating around than one might think. Back then, virtually every household with a female member had one. Tho 70 years may seem like a long time ago, they were built to last a lifetime, were handed down to the next generation, and thus are still very numerous. Each of my sisters has one of about the same vintage, and I turned one down from an old aunt of mine a few years ago myself.

Often, if it's in a cabinet, the cabinet (if in good shape) is worth more than the machine. I do see them in franchised businesses like Crackerbarrel Restraunts, where the decor is mostly old pictures, implements, signs, advertisements, and household or farm items. Good luck with it.

yeah its a SINGER and it is a table that folds open to also be a sewing machine. The table part has obviously been abused over the years with normal wear but the actual machinery is intact and perfect.

If I go over his house later I will take a pic

You can't even get the dump to take the old sewing machines, they are that common.

But because it was built during the war, I agree, at least do some research on it to make sure there isn't something special about it.

But assume it's not worth much if anything.

If it is lubricated and working, it is worth keeping. They do great on leather or vinyl sewing with the right needle.

Not worth allot on the open market unless they are in pristine condition though. Even then not huge money, and not worth a trip to Pawn Stars.

I'd hang on to it.

This is our Singer sewing machine. It was made in 1899 according to the serial number and it's not worth a whole lot. But it looks cool.

That is beautiful Larry. I have one like it, not near as nice as it survived my home fire and is smoke damaged. What's it worth ? I'd say $400.00.
