but mathematics damns the idols

The truth is often threatened by
a prejudice we save,
but open minds defeat the bully,
idols of the cave.

The truth is often poisoned by
a tale that we imbibe,
but study is the antidote
for idols of the tribe.

The truth is often sacrificed
at altars of our views,
but idols of the theatre
will bow if we refuse.

Under, over, inbetween,
Things unsaid are what I mean.

Saying blue when seeing red,
I love you means my love is dead.

Barely gone for just a day,
I miss you means please stay away.

Things I lost I cannot greave,
Forever means until I leave.

Seldom, here on PFF,
does discourse result in a fight,
though some members lean to the left,
and others adhere to the right.

Eyes of brown
nose of black
long pink tongue
and so layed-back.

Silent allegiance
heart of gold
thoughts inside
never told.

Tail of hope,
swaying free
ears that prick,
He talks to me.

Not in words
as we know well
but what he says
is for us to tell.

lives not long
compared to us
but his life is full
of eager trust.

A simple dog
a friend in strife
asks for little
would give his life.

Why? because
he loves us so
why? because
we'll never know.

Man's best friend
is what we say
something new
every day.

I'm proud to call him
MY best friend
He'll be with me
Until the end.

At my feet
he always is
never leaves
the choice is his.

Stroke his fur
caress his ears
look into eyes
that have no fear.

As long as we love him.
He will always love us.
even IF we don't love him
He will STILL love us.

Ramblin'

Two lane road, early morning,
On the road again.
Never sure where I am going
But I've learned from where I've been.

Every town I've ever seen,
Made another friend.
Stayed with them a day or two
Hit the road again.

There have been a few good women,
Once, and then a while
Can't remember all their names
But I cherish every smile.

One day I will stop this ramblin'
When I cannot stand the rain.
Find a home for burned out sailors
Who can't recall their name.
