During the Great Flood of '93, there was a floating Taco Bell on the St. Louis riverfront. It broke free and headed south, but only made it as far as the first bridge, though (river was very high). That was when Taco Bell was doing that "run for the border" ad campaign, so there were plenty of jokes.

That "up the creek without a paddle" thing never made much sense to me--current will always take ya back downstrem where you started.
