I've had this Blackberry Bold 7200 knock-ff since August. It has loads of 'Apps.' to connect to, but none work except MSN Messenger.
It has wifi, but I can't get the router to recognise it. It 'connects' to the router, but apparently there is no interaction between them, and eventually the phone says 'unknown host'.
I think the MSN Messenger connects through Wap, or is it GPRS?, yet nothing else works. When I try to connect to the router, it asks for the WEP key, and I put it in, and then the screen stays clear until the reply 'unknown host' appears. Is it the phone that is the host, or is it the router rejecing the WEP key...or is it something totally different? I know Nurb had one of these and junked it, but it is a nice phone. Oh...and I can also get my Outlook Express email inbox , and send emails.
I ran IPconfig/all on my laptop to find out if there is something different in the setup of the phone, but no joy. The peculiar thing is, my old China A Padthat I had used to connect easily through the router automatically, like everything else I've ever tried. makes no sense to me If I could get it to connect to the wifi, I could then sell it and get some money back
Thanks for putting up with a second round of pleas for assistance. I don't like giving up!!

You need to know the WEP key you are using in your router. If you don't know what it is your device won't be able to connect to your network. Check you router settings to find it.

Are you using the 13 character ASCII key or the word used to generate the key?

I'm not sure what you mean John, but here is a photo of the bottom of my router. I put in the WEP Key as shown:

I use Network Magic, it does all of the work for you.
They have a trial version.

You try other devices using WEP and with that key? If it is a key....

You're force to use that router? I would get a better one.... Return that one if its rented.

WEP is "dead" for security. If you are using any encryption, look like default is none, then wep is the worst.

Router IP address is 192.168.1.1
Try IP address in browser address bar.

google: router inalambrico telefonica password

first result: www.dslreports.com/forum/r1...-Telefonica-Kit-ADSL
Router
login: 1234
password: 1234

If/when you get in
Change router password. Write It Down in several places.
Change WEP\none to WPA or better, WPA2
Change WiFi Key... 15-20 at least with character, number, and symbols.

See link above... the2nicks and others live in Spain

Thanks Ogre...hope you are well. I am going to see if the local Telefonica shop can help me. Apparently they will 'adjust' my fake fone for a 'fee'

Stil do list of thing I post above....
Anyone can use you WiFi with none or WEB security, like kiddy p-rn and other illegal uses.
Or make Telco people do it.
Never leave it to be "open" or WEP WiFi. Or Cops, EU version of RIAA/MPAA, lawyers, etc, will come after you if someone else is doing illegal uses....

Might have asked this before, but can you turn off encryption and then re-test? I had a device once that refused to work under encryption.

Does he has any encryption at all?
Are you sure connect to you router? Or another one, maybe with same SSID?

(Thing to do list, Change SSID...)
